Among qualifying RB's, Demarco is 2nd in the league in YPC behind Andre Ellington of the Cardinals. Ellington is averaging 5.8 ypc while Murray is averaging 5.3.

He is 12th in yards, but 22nd in attempts per game.

Among RB's with at least 100 carries, Murray ranks 1st in 1st% at 28.8%. I assume that stat means he converts a first down on 28.8% of his carries.

If Marco can stay healthy he is a more than serviceable starting back, glad to see he finally has a line that can do some work for him..... On a side note I was really disappointed when we drafted Randle over Ellington so this stat makes me even sadder

This means a bit more than it did when people used to throw out those Felix Jones ypc threads.
They'd say he must be one of the best back b/c his ypc was so high. Uh, no.

YPC is very, very deceiving when the reps are not there or when a player is situational guy.

Murray is not that, he's a 3 down back. But he does need a slightly larger sample size.

Ellington has been more of a situational guy. Having said that, I too liked him (and many others) better than Randle coming out of college. Then again, it's not like we burned a high round draft pick for Randle, so expectations should be tempered.

This just shows how far the position of Running Back has fallen in the NFL. After Peterson, there's a big drop. I don't mean to knock Murray, his biggest problem has been injuries and a coach who doesn't commit to the run.

Well, right now I would say a dropoff after AP and McCoy, McCoy has earned the right to be in the conversation although talentwise AP is still clearly number 1.

Murray isn't really a guy who will stand out in any one catergory, more on his all around ability. The only curious thing I have left on Murray other than the injury history is how he would react in a playoff game.....IMO he does let up on alot of runs, which makes the YPC stat standout even more, but I just think in a playoff game he has sooo much more he could bring to the table and take it to a whole nother level.

When Murray is healthy he is a really solid back. He is a good blocker, is tough, has good hands, solid all-around person, etc... I know many want to dump the kid but I think we should hold on to him.
