Demarco Murray

Sort of like you don't draft a rb in a 1st round to be your number 2 guy?

Don't remind me about that.

I'd have been fine with drafting Felix in the first, but I really didn't understanding signing Barber to that mega-deal after all of one start in the previous season. This is especially true when you consider that he was signed to a 1st and 3rd tender - we had him by the balls. There was zero reason to cave in and give him that deal.

The better player at this point will get more carries, it's simple. Choice is our number 2. I know OU ran a lot of spread and Murray has some pass blocking experience. But he has proved NOTHING yet. It doesn't matter where he was drafted if he doesn't know his responsibilities. Is there really much difference between a 3rd round and 4th round pick?

Mark Ingram was a 1st round pick and he will be in a rotation. All in due time...

Jerry likes over-paying for bright shiny objects.

Choice has always been able to run. When he starts playing well in the passing and kicking games let me know.

Why should your position on the depth chart be performance based? I don't like Choice, therefore Murray should be #2.

The hell?

Choice is okay running the ball but he has little elusiveness, power or speed. He is a pretty mediocre RB and we'll be fine without his malcontent ***.

Murray is very talented, so he will always look pretty good.

Except when he's hurt.

And Jerry's double-speak on Choice was classic. He started out talking him up... But then later started talking up Tanner at least as much.

I think Babe might have got it right (and of course he's very close to RJ)... If they think Murray is healthy and can play well enough, he'll be the #2 back and Tanner can be #3 and play special teams. If they aren't sold on Murray, they keep Choice.

But as big a mancrush as Jerry seemed to have on Murray, I bet they trust him to be the #2.

Murray over Choice every single day. Murray is going to be a solid player and a nice weapon for us.

Going to disagree strongly. He has excellent burst and good but not great speed. Excellent vision and balance. He is not going to move piles but neither is he going to go down to arm tackles. Hes a good runner.

He just is mediocre to bad at the rest of his game.

Murray passes the eyeball test.
I still keep choice though.
Murray and Felix have to prove they can stay healthy before I would be comfortable letting go of Choice.
Word.

9 if you include choice and bomar

Murray ran like a pure one-cut runner, and he looked good tonight on the zone stretch. Murray is a third round pick, so Choice could be traded, imo. If you put Tanner on waivers, good luck with that. Is Choice going to be here next year? Is Choice going to be happy being number 3 here?

I'd flip Choice for a pick if I could get it.

I liked what I saw out of Murray tonight.

Jones and Murray are two different types of runners, too.

I believe him about the heavy legs. He is going to be more explosive than he showed once he gets it all back.

His footwork going into the holes was quick and he's got a nice burst coming off the handoff that has him to the line of scrimmage fast.

I can understand why they are considering trade/release for Choice. This thing about Choice not playing ST as a 3rd string RB and therefore it's a problem as far as the roster stop needing that ability sounds like a lot of BS.

With all the changes in the kicking game and less need for the ST roster spots for the gunners, etc...finding a roster spot for Choice shouldn't really be a problem.

Frankly, while I admire the Cowboys wanting to play up Felix as the main horse..he's been injuried every year since he's been here and I think the same thing will happen again. Speed backs are that way..IMO.

Felix was supposed to be the compliment to Marion Barber and only supposed to be getting 12-15 carries a game while Barber took the rest. That 2-headed running attack we were supposed to be so successful with.

Now that's being scrapped for Felix as numero uno.

I have my doubts about all this. And Murray has had his injury problems, too.

I say stop all the posturing about Choice..Garrett needs to stop playing mental games with Choice and let them all play with equal opps at settling it on the field.

I would rather let Tanner go or one of the others and just work Choice into the offense and to spell Felix and Murray if they are to be the #1/#2s. We will need an experinced RB behind Felix this year. I will take Choice if that's the case.

I have never seen this team since Emmitt left get thru a year where we didn't have injuries at RB that caused the offense to have to start throwing more and running less and therefore becoming too predictable for the other team.

Maybe next year, if Murray and the others show they can play..then let Choice seek work elsewhere.

But let's get on with the worries at the FB position and stop the drama at RB. There is none. And the team doesn't need to be playing this game over Choice.

I think he's a very good back, plays on the field better than his stats suggest and he moves the chains.

A few things. If dallas keeps Choice this season it will be his last in Dallas. It really wont be the cowboys choice. He will walk to try to be the man somewhere else. I cant blame him for that.

If Dallas were to decide to cut Choice it wouldnt just be based on his ability to run the ball. It would be based on several factors. Things like his attitude, his contract, his future on the team. Sure they would look at what he brings to the table compared to the other options and if he doesnt provide a large enough advantage over the other option then they would let him go. We are not on the team and really dont know everything.

All that said...I hope Choice isnt a bad attitude type and they can keep him around this season. But with him being gone after the season anyway I will not lose sleep either way.
