DeMarco Murray

Even in an ugly game.

He did okay - it took a lot of attempts to get those yards. He had a really key 3rd down pass reception to keep a TD drive alive in the 3rd quarter.

The Commanders were tough defending the run again today. I think Fiammetta makes a big difference in getting out there and picking off guys on the second level. Phillips often appeared to be blocking the wrong guy when he was leading the way.

Perhaps the board was too critical of Felix for not getting yards without Fiammetta (and with Nagy instead of Holland).

Given how the line was playing, I think he did pretty well. He's not going to get 150 yards every game.

Fiammetta being out really hurt. Most predicted it would affect Murray's stats.

Most of the time, he was met at the line of scrimmage or right in the hole.

He did the best he could.

Felix has had a much better ypc in games where both RBs have played. I'd still start Murray, but the difference between them is a lot smaller than people have been suggesting.

I didn't understand that either because Demarco ran behind that same line and did nothing as well. I haven't written Felix off. He'll be better as well when Fiametta gets better. I'm confident in that.

They were determined to stop him early. We should have been able to make them pay, but Tony was off on the deep ball. The opportunities were there.

I agree. But the style of each is different. Murray's style and frame suits an every down back you feed 20+ times. Felix on the other head does better in controlled situations (Screens, Draws, etc.).

They compliment each other well. If Garrett can figure out the right chemistry, this duo could be special.

Fiametta eliminates his guy 90% of the time. Phillips maybe makes contact with a defender at a 75% clip. Even when Phillips makes contact, that defender often times sheds the block. Nothing against Phillips, just pointing out how effective Fiametta is as a lead blocker and how his absence makes a huge difference.

Fixed.

It wasn't always so much of an issue of a missed block as it was picking the wrong guy to block. Phillips was never a runner so he doesn't see the blocking assignments with a RB's eyes. Fiammetta knew who was going to be the guy who had a shot at taking Murray down or interfering with his path and he would get that guy.

I hope he is back soon. He is special as a lead blocker and has unusual athleticism for a FB that we may be able to take advantage of at some point.

we need a new center,Costa is really bad.he is the culprit on many bad things that happen out there.

I don't like picking on young Olineman but on one play he got thrown to the ground as soon as he hiked the ball.

Hopefully in the offseason we pick someone in the first or second round to immediately step in and become a starter at Center. We can probably get by with our OGs for another year. I hope Arkin is ready by 2013 to step in as a starter which means we probably need to draft another guy at OG, too. I think the 3rd to 5th rounds are usually a good place to grab an OG that may need a year on the bench before becoming a starter.

One of the draw plays we ran was stuffed by Coefield who literally just chucked Costa to the side as if he weighed 150 pounds.

Young, old....if you suck, I'll say it.

Costa sucks. It's not a case of him needing time to develop. He's not an NFL starting talent.

He and we missed Fiammetta big time. Garrett failed to adjust for it.

What adjustment did you want?

We couldn't pick their LBs off in space without Fiammetta on the tosses. On the guns up the gut the interior was dominated and there was nowhere to run.

What do you suggest we do?
