I apologize if anyone posted this already, but there is a TV show on MGM+ called NFL Icons. It's about show that focuses on the lives of some of the NFL's best players. I just caught the episode about Demarcus Ware last night. I knew the player from following the Cowboys. I did not know the man.
What caught my attention was Ware's expression of frustration not winning playoff games with the Cowboys. He recalled the game against Seattle where Romo fumbled the snap on the game winning FG and also the frustration of losing to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs after going 13-3 on the season. Ware thought the Cowboys were SB bound that year and that the Giants weren't that good. That segment focused on a Romo INT in the end zone as if Romo was the reason they lost that game too. When we fans lose games like that we tend to focus on our own feelings, but Ware discussed his own feeling of failure for losing those games. Some players actually do care about winning and losing and sometimes we overlook that.
But what was interesting is Ware's experience in Denver where he won a Super Bowl with the Broncos. He talked about his relationship with Von Miller and how he mentored him to be a better player. I remember Ware in Dallas before they released him and I thought he was slipping. He was due some big money so I understood Jerry releasing him. The change of scenery did him good. He played better in Denver than he did in Dallas at the end.
But it struck me that playing opposite Miller helped both of them, and this is what Micah Parsons needs. The Cowboys do not help their players by getting other players around them. Dak needs a RB and WRs. Micah need someone else to be a pass rush threat. Jerry refused to get that help.
I know the Cowboys need DTs, RBs, and WRs, but maybe the most impact they can get from the draft is another elite pass rusher to play opposite Micah Parsons.
