I apologize if anyone posted this already, but there is a TV show on MGM+ called NFL Icons. It's about show that focuses on the lives of some of the NFL's best players. I just caught the episode about Demarcus Ware last night. I knew the player from following the Cowboys. I did not know the man.

What caught my attention was Ware's expression of frustration not winning playoff games with the Cowboys. He recalled the game against Seattle where Romo fumbled the snap on the game winning FG and also the frustration of losing to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs after going 13-3 on the season. Ware thought the Cowboys were SB bound that year and that the Giants weren't that good. That segment focused on a Romo INT in the end zone as if Romo was the reason they lost that game too. When we fans lose games like that we tend to focus on our own feelings, but Ware discussed his own feeling of failure for losing those games. Some players actually do care about winning and losing and sometimes we overlook that.

But what was interesting is Ware's experience in Denver where he won a Super Bowl with the Broncos. He talked about his relationship with Von Miller and how he mentored him to be a better player. I remember Ware in Dallas before they released him and I thought he was slipping. He was due some big money so I understood Jerry releasing him. The change of scenery did him good. He played better in Denver than he did in Dallas at the end.

But it struck me that playing opposite Miller helped both of them, and this is what Micah Parsons needs. The Cowboys do not help their players by getting other players around them. Dak needs a RB and WRs. Micah need someone else to be a pass rush threat. Jerry refused to get that help.

I know the Cowboys need DTs, RBs, and WRs, but maybe the most impact they can get from the draft is another elite pass rusher to play opposite Micah Parsons.

Wares career was finished when he left Dallas. He had chronic back issues and his play was already diminishing.

He played only third downs as a situational pass rusher in denver. And not even all of those third downs.

Von Miller was the man back then. It was a great fit for ware.

Even back then they used the Brandon Carrs contract as a reason why they couldn't get another edge to help Ware.

Will there be any "Von Miller types" available in the draft this year?
Abdul Carter and Mike Green. Mike Green we might have a shot at, but Carter is going top 3. Are they gonna spend another premium pick on DE is the question. They spent a 2 day last year on Kneeland and they also have Sam Williams coming back from injury as well. Then again I hope they do so they let Lawrence just straight up leave.

I haven't forgotten how Ware played against the Vikings in the playoffs. Jared Allen was sacking Romo by nailing him in the back on blind side sacks and Ware was grabbing Favre around the waist and gently laying him down. No wonder the score was 40-3. Ware was a complete Wuss! Too nice of a guy. I hated that about him. Good player but needs a villain opposite him.

He played a lot in the AFC Championship game and got two sacks in the SB. He was a major contributor no matter what you claim.

I despise posts like this.

Ware was a complimentary player in Denver. That's not an insult.

Although I wouldn't go as far as to call him a wuss he was a nice guy who didn't inflict the punishment he could have, and should have imo. Parsons is the same way in that regard. Maybe even kinder than Ware was.

You go back and look at how Bob Lilly played compared to a number of top DTs of his time and he was not brutal.
So those trying to make players like Ware as a wuss are full of crap.

I don't think he was slipping. He was just having to fight through some injuries that were affecting his game. It would have been hard to predict where he could overcome those injuries or if they were the beginning of the end, so yes, it's easy to understand why Dallas moved on.

I would not be opposed to another elite pass rusher, but we just spent a second-round pick on a DE last year and have another second-rounder coming off injury in Sam Williams. So I'm also OK with seeing what they can do while trying to improve the DT position. In this scheme, if you get a disruptive/stud DT, that does more for the pass rush than a second elite DE. Plus, I feel like Kneeland can be developed into a DeMarcus Lawrence/Tony Tolbert-like pass rusher.

I can only think of one game changing play he made in his career. So many times we would have the lead late in the game and one sack would have sealed a win. Ware never really delivered at crunch time and the other team would drive down and win. A great guy but I don’t think he was that amazing of a player.

Ware mentions Romos int at the end, but doesn't mention his own goofs? He had 2 offsides penalties on a single drive I believe that lead to Giants points in that '07 playoff game.

Anyways... Yes we need another threat opposite Micah. If you notice in games against good teams they just double or triple Micah neutralizing any threat of pass rush. DLaw ain't him anymore. We need that Penn St LBer or another vet like Myles to come in and help Micah.

If you get a chance watch his episode of NFL Icons. He claims he was angry when he played. And his sack dance was the Hulk smash.

Best 2nd down sack artist. Never showed up on 3rd down when needed.
