For the 10000 time on draft day it was agreed to take Ware if he was there at 11, and Merriman if he was gone. BP had decided to take Spears early since he was the only sure 3-4 DE that was going in the first rd= but that was BEFORE the combine when D Ware blew everyone away. BP then used his planet rule (there are only so many great athletes on the planet and when one falls to you you grab him) to take D Ware at 11. Before the combine D Ware was not a consensus first rd pick.

For every pick like Demarcus Ware, Bill Parcells picked guys like Bobby Carpenter.

I must admit, I was happy we got Ware, but was disappointed that we passed on Merriman and Johnson to do so. Boy am I glad that I don't run the Cowboys front office. Johnson hasn't quite lived up to his hype and Merriman just isn't the same without the steroids boost. however, Ware is on pace to break the NFL all-time sack record (or whatever you want to call it since sacks where not always recorded in the stat books). Ware just seems to get better and better, adding more moves to his skill set. Someone mentioned before that he is only good at outrunning the LT around the corner, but I have seen him stunt quite well this season. Not only is he great against the pass, but he is also a great run stopper. Pay attention and you will see that he always blows up RB sweeps to his side and usually gets the RB for a loss. Best defensive player of that draft class by far and I am glad we got him.

Does anybody remember how upset some people were that the Lions got Mike Williams a pick before we got D Ware? HAHAHAHHAHA

But seriously, I remember right after we drafted him reading about how he drove like 4 hours every day to weight train in preparation for the draft and still finish his degree at Troy and I just thought "Man, this guy has the right attitude." I thought he was going to be the kind of guy to put in the work to be one of the best, and his athleticism would be the only thing that could possibly hold him back(which obviously is not an issue.)

To me Ware is the Jerry Rice of OLBs right now. Perfect attitude, works his butt off, and is just plain the best.

I like your points but terrible comparison. Rice had a terrible attitude.

Oh, I remember.

I was glad Mike Williams was taken because no way did I want the Cowboys to draft an overrated receiver.

I knew nothing about Demarcus Ware. But I'm glad the Cowboys did. :D

I guess I shouldn't have compared Rice's attitude. Really I just meant his approach to the game. In terms of how hard he worked and played the game the right way. I really don't know anything about Rice's personal attitude.

I know when I was watching Hard Knocks this year and saw the segment where D Ware was on the web cam with his wife and adopted daughter, I found yet another reason for him to be my favorite Cowboy. Just a great dude on and off the field.

I agree with every word.

Rice was notorious for his temper tantrums. Some would argue that is where TO learned it from. I am not surprised you are unaware of this because Rice is a media favorite and TO is the Antichrist.

I hope he breaks the sack record. Now, if I can just get him to sign my Ware jersey I will be so incredibly happy.

when he injured his knee...my heart leaped out of my chest.

as previous posters mentioned...he is far more than just a pass rusher.

he is the complete package.

he reminds me of the lion in my avatar....minus the santa hat.:)

Yeah! Thanks for almost taking Spears first!

....I have nothing against Parcells.

I still shake my head every time I think about that.

He is unbelievable and I don't think he has reached his potential yet either

Now that's just scary....at least for the other 31 teams.

I was hoping that day that SD was going to take Spears aand we get Ware and Merriman. that would be sick and I would feel bad for opposing O's:D

D Ware really did not have any buzz untill after the combine. The more you look at him the better he looks. Merriman was getting all the ink but the smart scouts soon saw, especially after the combine, that D ware would be a complete LB- not just a pass rusher. His attitude and work ethic and everything about him screamed CLASS.
