Smith is the 4th ranked HS player in America, according to Rivals. Big get for NCSt. if he should stay there. He is also one of the big three (Smith, Tatum and Giles) who were reportedly considering signing at the same school to play together. Tatum committed to Duke and Giles, the prize of the class, is still uncommitted.

Nice player.

That is a nice pickup... NCST, has done some good recruiting over the last 5 or 6 years... (Leslie, TJ, Cat)... Lets see if they can make it pay off... FSU is also working on 2 straight awesome recruiting class with a third looking possible.... ACC is setting itself up for good battles on the hardcourt.

With the issues at UNC, a lot of players who might be landing there are now considering other options. It's good for the Conference but not so good for the Heels. Pains me to say it but this is what happens when you don't do things right.

I've been hearing that there is nothing pointing directly at the men's bball program, so they may get away with a slap on the wrist, besides that nothing will be settled til after the season, so their recruiting class this year should still be solid.... The one player I hope they don't get is Seven Woods, I hope he goes to Georgetown! Hey look at it this way... if ever there was a time to win the title.... this is it...

I've heard the same but something is up because UNC is not signing guys. Williams is a better then average recruiter, I think the players know. If they don't, you can bet that everybody recruiting against them is telling them. If they land Giles, that could and probably will change. Abebayo is a nice player as well and you are right, Woods is the real deal IMO. Guess we'll see but having said this, it's still the fault of UNC. I'm a fan but I gotta call it like I see it. It went on for way too long, even if it was not connected to the Mens BB program.

Harry Giles is going to be special....
When Woods finished his visit with Georgetown, He said no one had an advantage between the three contenders (UNC, South Carolina, GU)..... but... he did mention that could change if hears what he wants to hear on his trip to UNC... I think he wants to start at PG his first or second year, he doesn't want to be a small two.... Britt, & Berry seems to be the obstacles.. lets see how smooth old Roy is....

David Robinson played for Navy. Tim Duncan played for Wake. Larry Bird played for Indiana State. Bill Russell played for the University of San Francisco. Olajuwan played for Houston. The Big O played for Cincinnati. Karl Malone played for LA Tech. Jerry West played for WV. Dr. J played for UMass. Charles Barkley played for Auburn. These are among the greatest players of all time and none of them went to what could be considered powerhouse programs.

Today, you have Steph Curry who played at Davisdon. Chris Paul played for Wake. The list goes on.

How does the school you play for limit how good you can be?

Smith is from North Carolina. He lives an hour away from NCSt.

surely you aren't delving into the ancient past to make an argument.

Re Curry, he had no scholarship offers from major schools, so not like he had any choice.

Surely you aren't trying to say that only good players go to Powerhouse programs right? If that's the point you are trying to make, then lets just stop this discussion now. There are literally dozens of examples of really good talents playing at none powerhouse schools. Even more examples of Powerhouse talents not making it in the NBA. The statement you make on Curry basically proves the point.

The question you initially asked was uniformed. If you want to suggest that only bad players go to none powerhouse schools, that's your prerogative. Enjoy defending it.

oh get off your high horse. Top recruits generally do not go to bad programs. NC State is a bad program, pure and simple. It will always be third in the triangle. It would be like in the Laker glory years a top player voluntarily going to the Clippers.

You are arguing with yourself. On the one hand, you say that only good players go to Power Programs and in the next breath, say Curry had no offers from top schools, yet he is a top 5 player in the NBA. Hey, it is your freakshow so there is a certain humoristic quality to it. Please, continue.

You obviously are incapable of understanding the argument being made. You are saying oh good players don't always go to the top programs and use an example of a guy not recruited to prove your point. If you honestly believe that Curry would have chosen Davidson over KU UK, UNC, Duke, UCLA etc, then I cannot help you. He went to Davidson because he had no big school option.

This guy CHOSE MooU when he had other options.

Now get the last word in as you always do.

Yeah, it's all me. Hey, your statement is there for all to read. Lets see how the masses view this. A) I am incapable of understanding Canadians deep thought process or B) Good Players only go to big time programs in one second and then give example of Curry never getting offered as proof? I am confident in the outcome.

There are many paths traveled by great talents.
How you view a program/ team.. is not shared by the players choosing.

RJ Hunter, first round pick, choose Georgia State because his father was the coach.
TJ Warren, first round pick, four star, consensus top 50 player choose NC State, because they fit his style of play (he's gonna be a good one)
DeAndre Jordan, second round, four star/five star, consensus top 25 player choose Texas A&M because it was close to home (over the more celebrated Texas.

FSU has back to back awesome recruiting classes (15', & 16') that will probably yield 2 high level future NBA players.

Heck the top player in the Nation, and favorite to be the number 1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft choose LSU, and he's from Australia.

Many paths to travel....beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to how one judges a program.
