That would make Minny play their starters vs the Giants.

Im assuming we beat Wsh so Philly beating Denver is harmless.

Very strange, but I think your analysis is correct: Go Eagles! (now--let me wash my mouth out with soap--ugh!)

Please ignore this thread if you are one of those "We only need to worry about ourselves and shouldn't be concerned with other teams helping us...blah...blah...blah..." people.

Assuming the Cowboys and Giants win tomorrow, we would probably want the Vikings to play their starters against the Giants (unless you somehow know that we are beating the Eagles and then we may want the Vikings to lose so we can have a shot at the 2nd seed). So my question is, if the Eagles win tomorrow, will the Vikings have to play their starters against the Giants the following week since the Eagles will only be a game behind them? Do the Eagles have the tiebreaker over the Vikings or are the Vikings set if they win tomorrow?

If the Vikings do not have a tiebreaker over the Eagles, I guess we should be rooting for the Eagles tomorrow so they force Minny to play their guys the following week against the Giants who have the tiebreaker over us.

Oops! I just started a thread about the same thing. I sense a merge coming...

I don't expect the Vikings to rest their starters for either of the final 2 games. Too much is on the line for them.

Never. We want to win the division, and the way that we do that is Philly losing.

Go Broncos.

Eagles own the tiebreaker over them so yes if the Eagles win the Vikings will have to play next week or risk losing their HFA and first round bye.

However I can't force myself to root for Philly, so I just hope the Panthers win against the Giants. 2 birds one stone.

I agree. I don't think Minny wants to go into the playoffs with a loss.

They'll play hard enough to win, especially at home.

But if the Eagles lose this week and the Vikes win, why would the Vikes risk injury the following week? Wouldn't they have the #2 seed locked up?

Thanks for the answer. I'm with you. Go Panthers!
I just have VERY little faith that they will play well 2 weeks in a row - especially against a desperate Giants team at Giants stadium.

The Vikings have not exactly been clicking on all cylinders lately. The had bad losses to the Cardinals and the Panthers. They have to right the ship before they do anything else. Coasting into the playoffs is disaster for them. See Cowboys in 2007 laying down vs. the Commanders as an example.

How about the 'Boys win the last two, and the Eagle's and Giants lose their last two??

Yes - they would have it locked because they would be 2 games up on Philly with only 1 game remaining. The tie-breaker scenario would be meaningless.

My guess is they would still play their starters however.

I will never root for the Eagles. I hate them that much.

But you could make the case that Favre poor play of late has been due to fatigue.

And you always want to rest RB's when you can.

How about, root for the Bears? Then Philly can still lose and the Vikes still have to play, and the #2 seed would then be wide open.

Thats on MNF though. And they have Jay Cutler....

Philly would still need to lose to use regardless of that game.

"Rooting" for a team has no actual influence on the outcome of the game.

If it did, the Cowboys would never lose a game. I root for them every game.

:D

Yes, but if Philly loses, Dallas could still have an outside shot at the division even with a loss to Washington. Would require a Giants loss as well.
