Denver Game.... Defensive Strategy?

I am pretty pumped that the Dallas Cowboys took a very good Denver Broncos team to the wire and almost beat them. I am not as disappointed at the loss as most are. But
I am scratching my head a little bit over a couple of things:

1. We really didn't get much pressure on Manning all day. Was it a case of picking our poison and playing it safe (and bleeding to death a little at a time all day long)?

2. Ware never really seemed to be a factor in the game at all.

3. Why didn't we take chances in the game with press coverage in an attempt to make a play? If we ended up giving up a long score it was probably going to happen anyway. At least by taking a chance we might have made a drive killing play or created an additional turnover, which might have made a difference in the outcome of the game.

I will also go on record and say that although Romo's interception probably realistically ended our chances at winning this game, Romo was NOT the reason we lost this game. We lost this game because our defense gave up 51 points.

2. Ware never really seemed to be a factor in the game at all.

Ware was a factor in two of our biggest defensive plays of the game. His pressure helped force Manning's underthrown pass that Claiborne picked off, and he got pressure on the incomplete third-down pass before Denver's tying field goal.

All in all, though, our defense was horrid.

I'm not sure what either team's defensive strategy was but they were both lousy!

Manning was throwing the ball all day at around 1.5 to 2.0 seconds. Not much the rush can do about that.

Still, we need better DL if we're going to stay in the 43.

I would love to be the punter for the Denver Bronco's.

I could just sit on the sideline and troll you guys on Cowboyszone through the entire game.

So the Bronco's defense is responsible for winning the game by giving up 48pts..... Dallas's defense has been playing with unknown veteran players coming in off the street..for the last 2 years..it sucks....its reality tho.....both Monte Kiffen or Rob Ryan have to play the players the team gives them...coaches.. coach and players... play....but in this case its the guy buying the groceries that is killing this defense....no cap space, poor drafting and no money to replace an old hurt defensive line is the biggest problem.... The defense coaches and the players are giving everything they got....the talent level is just not there.

Aside from a big early gain by Eric Decker, which set up Denver's first TD; if you look at the stats the Broncos wide receivers didn't really hurt the Cowboys much. It was the tight end, Julius Thomas, eating our linebackers alive like Antonio Gates did last week. Somehow, Dallas has to start covering the middle of the field, or this is going to be a recurring theme all season long.

I thought they could have helped themselves by banging Julius Thomas some at the line of scrimmage. On a side note, he is an unbelievable and smooth athlete for his size.

If this defense doesn't pick it up, the Saints will also put up 50 on us.

Was there a defensive strategy? I didn't see one other than getting steamrolled all day.
