If it's even then I'd give the nod to Julius. Only because I want more Tulius! I hope we don't use a FB though. Run some more two tight end and Barber and Felix sets

I am not a fan of Anderson anymore. Not strong enough at the point of attack and sucks in the protection schemes. Id like to see what Crosslin has.

Always been a fan of the lead blocker...

Me too. Let us me when there's one on the Cowboys roster.

Should have gotten Lorenzo Neal!:bang2:

Cricket really isn't that bad at all, but he gets injured too much. I like the fullback as a lead blocker because it beats having Witten there. I don't think Bennett can do it and Curtis was pretty bad at it lat year. The Packers game was painful to watch. People talk about Marion struggling last year when he was healthy, well that coincided with Cricket being hurt.

I like the idea of 2 TE's, but it's always nice to be able to have as many formations and packages that you can execute well on a consistent basis. That keeps the defense honest and allows you to open up the playbook. In fact, I wish they had 2 fullbacks on the roster so if one gets hurt we can substitute the other fullback in his place. But that requires a lot of versatility by at least one of the fullbacks (i.e. Richie Anderson) and the other being really good on special teams (i.e. Darien Barnes).

Cricket is pretty good on special teams as well. I don't think Garrett is too big on carrying 2 FB's, but whomever wins this battle it will probably be due to who stays healthy and who plays better on ST.

I think that the TE they drafted will have a say into whether we even keep a FB...if he can block from the FB position as well as from the line than I see no chance of keeping a FB...when we are keeping an extra kicker and QB

I have never been in favor of having a FB that isn't a runner. I realize that Moose was a major key in our running attack in the 90s but I still prefer having 2 guys back there that can do it all. Maybe I'm just too old school and like the system Landry used back in the day.

Also, Moose was an excellent receiver and with Emmitt able to carry the ball as many times as we needed him to, it worked out for us very nicely. Unfortunately, that is not the case very often and isn't the case now so I would rather go with a RB that can block well rather than a FB that can only block.

If all we need is a lead blocker then an OL like Doug Free or Montrae Holland would do nicely.

I personally don't care which one wins the job in the end as long as theyre productive and do their jobs.

I like the videos but I'm not hoping for a guy simply because of those videos.

Ideally you want your lead blocker/FB to be smaller then a TE to have the neccesary quickness to pick up blitzes and make quick moves when needed that 260 lb plus guys just cannot do.
So arround 230 is about max.
He needs to have good hands to catch passes to be another threat. Running the ball is usually last but its a good option to have.
I fail to see how it should be that hard to find a good one.

Anderson WAS valuable on ST's. not anymore. The wedge buster has gone from the game with the new 2 man wedge rule , he is not fast enough for ST's and truly sucks as a FB in all ways. Awful lead blocker, useless runner, hands of stone as a receiver. Move on without him

Moose was at least 242.

I think at his most effective he was lighter then that. In todays NFL where you have to be quicker to pick up blitzes and match up to the quicker LBs I really do not think anyone that heavy can do it as well as it is needed.

well, shorter

the reason TEs have a hard time blocking sometimes is that they are too tall, and can't get the necessary leverage

Don't forget weight. Laws of physics show that the heavier the object the more energy required to move it and the harder it is for that object to change directions quickly.
