Interesting to see if he tries to lose a little bit of weight and get quicker this year. He's something like 30 lbs heavier than Chris Jones, and I bet that whoever drafts him will ask him to lose weight anyway.

11. DI DEONE WALKER, KENTUCKY

Walker is an alien sent to Earth to terrorize SEC backfields. He’s 6-foot-6 and 348 pounds and revealed in a recent PFF interview that he aims to run in the “high 4.6s” in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. For reference, the record for an interior defensive lineman is 4.67 seconds by Calijah Kancey, who is nearly 70 pounds lighter than Walker.

Most defensive tackles of Walker’s size are limited to being run-stuffers. While he earned an 81.7 PFF run-defense grade last year, Walker is also an incredibly productive pass-rusher. His 51 pressures in 2023 were the most by any interior defensive lineman in college football, while his eight sacks led the Power Five.

This guy looks like a friggin monster. Just let him keep playing at that weight. He uses it to knock lineman sideways like bowling pins. Looks extremely explosive off the snap.

sad fact is that look in NFL history and how many great players that heavy can you find?

But then again there is always an exception

I would be more worried about endurance but he is over 6' 7"

Vea is 6’4” and carries it okay. The guy is just a huge human and weighs a proportional amount I believe. He’s got a bit of a belly, but that’s it. Guess we’ll see.

I would be shocked if whoever drafts him doesn't ask him to lose 20 lbs. There's just no benefit to playing at 350 instead of 330, especially since his game is based on his reach and movement.

He carries his weight really well, but the long-term effects of 15-20 lbs of baby fat can be tough on the body. Vita Vea lost weight this offseason, and looks better for it.

Walker is representing the Wildcats at No. 21 overall.

The most mundane part of the box score is the most revealing when looking for signs of Walker’s dominance. He’s certainly got his disruptive side — he made 17.5 tackles at or behind the line in 2023, and he has nine career sacks, too. That’s pretty good for a guy whose main job, at 6-foot-6 and 345 pounds, is to occupy blockers and eat space in the middle of the line. But you know what’s just about unheard of for a guy that size? Through the first five games, Walker was also second on the team in tackles. He made a tackle on 12.1% of his snaps. That’s a linebacker’s average! In fact, UK linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson was at only 10.0% in the same period. Walker is a 345-pounder making plays from sideline to sideline. That’s not normal.

Another thing that’s remarkable about Walker is that he rarely takes a play off. Last week the enormous interior defensive lineman was on the field for 50 of the Wildcats’ 56 defensive snaps. Most big-bodied defensive linemen play around 50% of the time. He’s only missed 19 plays in four SEC games. Remarkable.

Look at how Poe wore down. He looked 40 by the time he was 27
