He was cut, but I remember reading that we had already regained our 4th-round comp pick because of a different move (I think it was Benkiwere being counted). I don't know if that's correct, but if it is, cutting Thompson should bring us a 7th-round compensatory pick, I believe.

Technically Benwikere qualifies because of playing time, but if he doesn't continue to get the playing time in the second half of the season he would stop qualifying. Cutting Thompson makes sure they get the 4th round comp and now Benwikere could bring a 7th.
