just for a little something to do in the offseason...I thought I would play detective and look at the roster & depth chart.

just a few things I noticed that are odd/interesting...perhaps there are others

no Tony Curtis listed anywhere did he sign with someone? normal they have UFA's listed till they sign somewhere. Also that punter that took over for McBriar is no where to be found

Ratliff is listed as a DE

They must like Siavii as a prospect at NT to keep him an entire year...The Dallas Cowboys added a young lineman on January 23, 2008 with NFL experience in Junior Siavii. Siavii was out of football in 2006 and 2007 but was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round (36th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft...They probably wanted to give him a year of lifting and getting in shape.

Who is the safety Jerome Carter and does he have game?

Who is the WR Paris Warren and why does he have a girl name?

Michael Hawkins sounds familiar. Can't recall why i know his name. He hasn't played football since 04-05 it appears.

Two guys on the roster that I will be keeping an eye on in TC are Alan Ball and Courtney Brown.

Both very young and raw, I would love to see atleast one of them step up their game, and start showing something.

I was quite surprised when looking at their size and weight that Brown is actually the bigger of the two. I always assumed that Ball was for some reason, just looks bigger than his listed weight when I saw him in person.

Courtney Brown - 6-1 203
Alan ball - 6-1 176

I believe that those were signed to futures contracts at the end of the year, except for Travis Wilson. Wilson was picked up on the practice squad fairly early in the season after the brownies released him.

Edit: Apparently he was picked up to the broncos practice squad after the browns released him. So he's been on the Cowboy practice squad since late September.

A bunch of camp bodies most of which won't be around by the time the season starts.

I think Hawkins played at Oklahoma and also briefly with Green Bay and the Desperados IIRC. He's had tryouts before when Ireland was here but was never signed.

On Hard Knocks, Wade actually called other teams about Savaii after he was released and told them he could play in the league.(Still nobody picked him up)

Paris Warren a couple of years ago with Tampa Bay looked to be turning the corner and becoming a player but he broke his leg in preseason scoring a td. Might be a guy that is finally getting the leg healthy.

Travis Wilson was someone I liked coming out of Oklahoma. I thought his game would translate to the NFL.

Wilson and Hawkins are local kids both from Carrollton or less than 5 minutes from where I sit now working.

Hawkins is a great athlete who has had a tough life and may not ever have football catch up to his athleticism.

Wilson is a big WR at 6'1" and 215 or so that lacks top end speed. Best case he could be a Patrick Crayton type.
