Depth doesn't mean much if the starters aren't good

When you finally just accept that NFL is a huge business and owners and many players are in in it first and foremost to make money for themselves, then the rest of this stuff won't bother you as much.
The Cowboys are going to use most of their cap space anyway, so even if there is some left over it's so tiny it has no real impact on Jerry's net worth.

Some fans getting mad because Tank said "he'll never win a Super Bowl in Dallas -now" Don't worry Tank-your odds just got better. Jerry is moonshining on all Dallas fans laughing all the way to the bank. Funny yet not at the same time.

Watch the video; he meant what he said which was he knew he would NEVER WIN ONE HERE. Not because he has left, but because it was NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

They signed two former #1 picks and a former #2 pick so the players have talent.

They just haven't done as much as they probably should have. In most cases, injury was a issue.

The Cowboys had some success fixing broken 1st rounders before. Malik Hooker turned his career around and if just one of these guys can do the same it may be worth it.

Besides, one way to prevent expensive free agents is to make your guys better. If these new Cowboys can at least provide some competition then there is no better incentive to improve.
You could say they had potential. Or you could say they’ve proven they were over drafted. Hooker was a goid player who turned his health around more than his play

Every player who leaves says something of the sort. It’s many things they see. It’s the atmosphere, the approach to building the roster, the decision made on the staff. There is a problem her and that problem is Jerry.

When I look at the history of most of these new players I see a history of injuries that impacted their development.

RB Javonte Williams was averaging 4.4 yards a carry until his 2nd year injury.

DE Payton Turner suffered a shoulder injury in November of his rookie season in 2021. In the opening game of the 2023 season, he injured his toe and didn't come back until the playoffs.

I'm not saying they will have breakout seasons, I just think they never really had a chance to prove themselves due to injury setbacks and they might come in with a chip on their shoulders.

Very possible that one or two will be fully healthy and have solid seasons. One or two we’re just over drafted to begin with and one ir two get injured again,

So far:
-DL is looking to be in much better shape.
-There are a couple of guys in the RB room that have produced, and another high pick in the draft is likely. I like Miles Sanders, but haven't followed him for a couple of years. Hopefully he can return to form.
-WR still needs help. Lots of guys available that can fill the #2 spot. They need to get one on board ASAP. I like Tolbert as a #3 and Turpin is a strong #4.
-Murray at LB could be a sneaky decent pickup for depth. Still need a starter there.
-CB is a problem until Diggs is healthy.
-OL has been addressed, but more work is necessary. The starters in place proved to be adequate late last season. Hopefully we see some growth there, minimizing the need to expend premium assets plugging holes.

Good start to FA. Much better than previous years, and lots of draft picks to fill out the roster. No big headliners so far, but a few guys that can contribute, and a couple of boom/bust pickups that could prove to be useful. Need to keep up the momentum and solidify this roster before the draft. So far, I'm optimistic.

So jsut to be clear. You think that the Cowboys are acting teh same way here in early March as last year.

I get your level. About at everything they do sucks so it looks the same.

Going by what you feel is known as emotional intelligence. It sucks for actually understanding what is going on.

PS just because I say it is different, does not mean I say it will work. I get that anything looking other than bad is a problem for you.
You deflected the question by misrepresenting by stance.

So again, be a man and predict their finish in the East this year since they've "changed philosophy".....I say 3rd.....what say you?

Tell us all. 1st place?.....again the ball is in your court so stop running away from this question!

To no surprise, the Dallas Forbes Cowboys are signing a bunch of rotational guys. Which one of these guys is going to make any significant difference? How about we overpay for good players instead of journeymen for once?

Looking good on Forbes though:flagwave:
well remember in 2009...Jones defended his draft by saying, it was focused on special teams....it was a special teams draft.

this FA was about filling the 53, with cheapest way possible. resign Micah because those cowboys Micah jerseys need to come off the racks.

I did answer your question. With a question. The assumptions of your questions were specious. You are not an authority that gets to demand how your questions are answered.

I was hoping you could use some critical thinking skills and think about it.

They are signing more FA than they let go. Clear departure from past years and their stated policy of valuing comp picks.

They are active on the first week of free agency. Clear departure from a stated policy of staying away from the first two weeks because of inflated costs.

It is what it is. You think it is exactly the same.

Their action is underwhelming when it comes to getting STARTERS In free agency.

We are currently ranked 28th out of 32 teams so far in total free agent spending this year......how is that a departure from last season?

Look at the quality and price of the players brought in rather than just the number of jag players signed

3rd place this year... .homers like to Virtue signal but they don't have the conviction to back it up with a prediction.

Dude. Just because other things are the same does not make everything the same.

Different means change. I pointed out two stated principles of the Joneses that have clearly changed.

You ignore it. It is differing. I am not saying it will be better. I don't know and neither do you.

rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic would have been different too

Yes, they are going to be rotating off the roster.

The DL frankly is about the same; noway is it in MUCH BETTER SHAPE
the RBs signed are JAGS
CB needs more than Diggs being healthy
So your claim that FA is much better than previous years is patently FALSE

Lol. I was implying that the DL is in MUCH BETTER shape than it was before the start of FA. There's no argument here to the contrary.

Rico was a JAG. The guys they brought in have been successful in the league. Are they the answer? I doubt it, but it beats going into the draft with Deuce as RB1, or Rico like they did last year.

I never said CB didn't need more talent. I said it's a problem. Meaning a glaring hole. It needs to be addressed.

My claim was my personal opinion. You don't have to agree with it but it's incredibly premature to write it off as false.. It hasn't been great, but there's been movement, and an effort to improve the team before the draft...which is an improvement. Sanders has produced at a high level in the NFL. We know what Fowler is. A solid pass rusher. I doubt the kid from Miami sees the field as a starter, but he has starting experience. Not terrible for a depth add. They took a couple of flyers on high round disappointments. Will they work out? I don't know, but it can't hurt to look. They've resigned some key pieces and supplemented the roster in the first couple of weeks of free agency, and there's a ton of money left to be spent. That's a good thing.....

He just doesn't seem to get the big picture here and that's ok.

The entire sports media is saying and seeing the same thing we are but some just don't want to acknowledge it.

They truly believe that signing Zeke and signing Derrick Henry is equal.
