Derrick Henry

I told everyone before the draft Henry was going to be very good in the NFL.

Yes you did. I actually remember some posts from you about Henry. He looked pretty dang tough in the preseason game. Reeeeeal physical style of running.

Henry would have been a monster behind this line.

Man I hope Elliot is better than him.

me too, I was a fan of grabbing him in the second and going D in the first. You would think with our Oline, Henry would have been more than adequate. Hopefully Zeke lives up to expectations

My only concern with Henry was his running style and whether he would be effective long enough to see a second contract.

I thought he got to the outside pretty quickly, especially for a guy of his size.

Titans may have a deadly duo to help their young QB out.
Murray and Henry sound like a nice way to control the clock.

I assume that's not his final jersey number, right?

Maybe sooner or later one of these Saban Alabama backs will have a good career in the NFL. Maybe Henry will be that RB.

will he be able to keep #2 as his number?
Running backs are assigned numbers 20-49 in the NFL. Deion Sanders used to practice in his #2 college number, but of course he wore #21 during games. Henry's number will change before, or once the regular season starts.

i know players have worn practice numbers in practice, just dont remember seeing them wearing them in prseason games...but i could be wrong

It wouldn't surprise me if Henry gets off to a fast start.

But long term give me Elliot all day every day. He doesn't have to power Henry does but if you watch him play he's very precise. He doesn't waste energy because his vision and change of direction are so fluid. It's a no contest for me.

Week 2.

Henry is going to get positive carries the majority of the time. The Titans are going to make some teams tap out after 4 quarters of Murray and Henry coming at you.

Yeha, I think most of us agree that long term Zeke would be expected to be the ooverall better back.

But that really isn't the argument when discussing why we spendt the 4th overall pick on Zeke.

For starters, we already had Morris and DMC
But aside form that, the comparison is, it better to have (for example)

Henry + Larry Tunsil.... instead of Zeke.
or
Henry + Josh Doctson + Kendall Fuller + a 2017 3rd...instead of Zeke
or

etc

Would you rather have Emmitt Smith in his prime or Brandon Jacobs and a bunch of scrubs?

That's really the point. People expect, myself included that Zeke can be something special. Henry is Brandon Jacobs 2.0 and Tunsil seemed like a bust from day 1.

Like I said, you can choose the player....they were just examples....
If you want to say a 2017 1st plus henry plus an extra 2nd this year for Zeke, that's fine too.
It was pointing out value.

Anyway, a Larry Tunsil might be a 8 time pro bowler before all is done and Josh Doctson (or Treadwell or someone else) could be Dez like.

These aren't scrubs we are talking about. That was my point. It's Henry PLUS a possible pro bowler plus some other wild cards vs Zeke.

Plus, saying Zeke is a HOFer like AP is like saying Jared Goff is John Elway. It's a huge projection

At this point, we have Zeke and I'm excited about it.
Just was pointing out that it wasn't remotely a direct sway between Henry and Zeke.
