Every mock I'm seeing and everything I'm reading has these guys going mid-to-late 1st-round suddenly. I knew of Orchard during the year simply because he was the sacks leader, but didn't see him play much. I know almost nothing about Harold, other than he's shooting up draft boards apparently. Just from the couple videos I've watched, he looks like he has elite burst & athleticism off the edge, but is also a bit lanky and underweight, and is a "potential guy" who likely wouldn't legitimately contribute for at least a year (although he looks like he could be a huge steal if he pans out).

Anyone think these guys are legitimate possibilities for the Cowboys? Looks like they're projected right around where we select. If so, who would you rather have?

I would take either of them, if we are lucky enough to be on the clock, and having one of them still on the board.

Go watch Nate Orchard on the draft breakdown websites. I'm not that impressed

I'd take Eli at 27 he's got explosion which we need badly and the guy appears to have a great motor. It also looks like he's got a pretty good punch when he hits the tackle.

If you watch him on the breakdown site you do see he's a little wild, he needs to play with more control. The athleticism, explosion, and motor are there. I love him better out of a 3 point stance. Watch him vs Louisville. 4th quarter he's still going strong. He makes a ticky tacky late shove (roughing the passer) on the QB that end up costing them a touchdown, but later on the next series game on the line he makes an insdie move beats the tackle and guard and hits the QB quickly for a big sack.

Eli Harold is quick and relentless, no doubt. He was dominant at times, the type of player at Virginia that teams game planned, and I'd take him at #27 in a heartbeat. But Max Valles is bigger, more athletic and more versatile, and I think he will be a better pro than Eli. When it's all said and done, I think Valles will be a huge steal somewhere in the late second-early third. Trivia: Max Valles played WR in high school.

Harold is a guy ive liked for a while (not trying to be all suercowboy8 on u there) he and oo from ucla are 2 of my favourite ends this year.
Harold reminds me alot of ware but as was stated in the opening post he will need developing and adding a little bulk-that being said tho we just locked up rod for 3years so who better to take this guy and dlaw under there wing?
Realistically tho if we were to draft harold he would benefit from having a vet to play underneath on the depth chart but as the season wore on im sure he would push for more and more reps

Interesting. I'll keep an eye on that name.

Orchard is more explosive, IMO. I would like the Cowboys to draft him if available.

Wow I just don't see Orchards explosiveness... ok what game are you watching? I'm gonna slog through it again. I diodn't watch everything they had on him at draft breakdown.

harold is a guy people will like in workouts. give me the guy that produces on the field. Harold looks skinny too. CBS sports has him at 235. he stands up alot to and isnt as good with his and down in the dirt. Orchard is my guy. Give me the guy that gets 4 sacks vs Peat, a 1st round OT, give me the guy that puts his hand in the dirt every play, give me the guy that ha played both sides and NT. Orchard has done all that as Harold is a stand up rusher only IMO, I think he's more potential than actual production. When you draft for potential and just athletic ability 9 times out of 10 you bust.

Both games Orharch has on draftbreakdown shows explosive burst off the snap. Oregon st game and the UCLA game. I wish they had the stanford game so people can see how he owned Andrus Peat. Just compare how Harold played vs UCLA and Orchard played.

Also when watching Harold, he is alot better standing up than putting his hand in the dirt.

Ok I rewatched the UCLA one.... UCLA gave up 10 sacks in that game. He was often left to the RB. Now he did beat the tackle occasionally and he did complete the sacks. I'm not discounting that. I don't see a guy who will require a double team or special attention in the NFL. I'll look for the Stanford game,

The 2nd sack in this 2013 game shows a great jump and explosiveness.

Count me in the group that doesn't see it in Orchard. It's feast or famine with him and kind of alarming how often runners slip through his grasp or scoot right by him. I think he's going to be more interesting to 3-4 teams. Situational pass rusher if drafted by a 4-3 team.
