1. CAME BACK FOR THIS?
I can't imagine tailback Kevin Jones' frustration. He busts his tail to come back from that bad foot injury, and the Lions are hardly running the ball.

2. PLAYING KEEP-AWAY: The Lions might run the ball Sunday despite the Cowboys' good run defense. If they ran it trying to keep possession from Green Bay's Brett Favre, they'll probably run it trying to keep it from Dallas QB Tony Romo.
3. IN THE ZONE: Can anybody on the Lions cover Dallas WR Terrell Owens? If the Lions go man-to-man at all against the Cowboys, they'll be rolling the dice, big-time. Owens can win any one-on-one matchup. Expect the usual: a lot of zone defense.
4. DIFFERENT APPROACH: Coach Rod Marinelli has defended Shaun Rogers, praised Shaun Rogers, encouraged Shaun Rogers. So Monday, when he criticized Shaun Rogers, just a little bit, it raised eyebrows.
5. TIME TO RECIPROCATE: Rogers, a defensive tackle, is making Marinelli look bad. Marinelli gave him all that support and let him miss most of the exhibition season to get into good condition, and Rogers is reverting to what everybody has said he is. He has no excuse to be running out of gas.
6. STAYING FOCUSED: Give lineman Damien Woody credit, not just for taking over at right tackle, but for not going in the tank when he lost his job at starting right guard. It would have been easy to do.
7. TIME FOR BIG MAC: Now that receiver Roy Williams is out of the lineup, rookie Calvin Johnson should have more opportunities to make big plays. But Shaun McDonald probably will be Mike Martz's go-to guy. Martz has had Jon Kitna throw to him a lot already, and now McDonald is playing Williams' "X" receiver spot.
8. SEEN THIS BEFORE? The tackling on defense and special teams has been atrocious. Stating the obvious here. Just can't believe it.
9. SINKING SHIP: The whole not-everybody's-on-the-boat thing? Kitna is right.
