I found this intresting.

This is a scenario that I think would help Detroit get on the right track. Obviously it would never happen with Millen at the helm, but it's always fun to fantasize. Also, I've seen some people asking about salary numbers for the lions. Go to "thenetrat.com". He has put together a fantastic page. Kudos to him!

SO this is just dealing with pre-draft trades involving picks, and then who would be selected. I'm not considering any free agents in this.

TRADE 1:
Detroit Gets:
Dallas's pick# 22,30,62

Dallas Gets:
Detroit's pick# 15, Roy Williams

Good for Detroit because they need more picks to fill the many holes they have, Roy Williams will be missed but he's a free agent next year and will probably bolt closer to home in Texas anyway. Calvin Johnson and Shaun McD. will hold down the WR positions very well with Furrey in the slot! Still an extremely potent passing game.

Good for Dallas because they get a high 1st rd pick and pick up an extremely potent WR in Williams. They need WR and would probably of drafted one in the first rd anyway. Granted they won't pick again till the 3rd, but they won't need to!

Detroit Drafts: "Trying to stay within Reason!!"
# 22- Jeff Otah OT
# 30- Antoine Cason/ Leodis McKelvin CB
# 45- Jared Mayo ILB
# 61- Chris Johnson/ Steve Slaton RB
# 79- Dejuan Tribble/ or other CB

Obviously it also depends on who's available, but like I said.... guessing within reason.

I don't see the value in trading up from #22 to #15...maybe we could get a better corner but I don't think that would be likely to happen. Everything else makes sense though I think.

Not worth it in this draft. Seven picks is not going to make a big deal, talent wise. After the first 4-5 draft picks, this draft becomes a real crap shoot.

You trade up for a player who can WILL make your team better. Who will be there at 15 that will be significantly better than who we get at 22?

We can likely get Roy for our later 1st, possibly our 2nd round pick.

Basically, it would make no sense to do this deal, unless you are the Lions.

Ignore this guy, he's on something. We'd never give up that much, and we're giving up the #30 pick somehow? Also some of the players he has at the spots he has them drafting is just absurd.

Jerry would need a taller wall surrounding his house, a moat, a basilisk, and prayer to keep me from tearing his world down. I guess what I'm trying to say is...that trade sucks donkey balls.

I'd make them throw in their 3rd, which we could use to draft Matt Forte.

Then our draft could look like

Jenkins/McKelvin
Roy Williams
Matt Forte/Tashard Choice
Dwight Lowery

basically, the Cowboys would be giving up a #1 pick for Roy Williams and a 2nd round pick for the rights to move up to #15 ?

I'm going to be honest, my first reaction ( and I was about to post it ) was: " Child, you're crazy. Way too high of a price to pay ". However, if we think about it very carefully, this is an excellent deal for both teams.

Let's break it down:

As of right now, Roy Williams is a better receiver than anybody in the draft coming out this year ( in terms of talent and potential ), correct ? So giving up the 22nd or 28th pick for him would be a no brainer.

So let's say, being the devil's advocate here, that we gave up the 28th pick for Williams. Now, the critics would say " a 2nd round pick is too high of a price to pay to move up 7 spots ", and they'd be correct. So, instead, we give up the 22nd pick for Williams.

Would any of you, then, give up a 2nd round pick to move up from the 28th spot to the 15th spot in this draft ?

As of right now, I would.

Roy Williams + 15th pick of the draft > than #22, #28, and #61

Worse case scenario, they can move down again from #15 if that's what they want.

Can we wait to see who is available at 15? Jenkins would be nice. Still losing #61 can sting.....

Unless it contains a plan to replace Millen as GM, no scenero exists that will help the Lions.

True, but if the Cowboys don't find what they're looking for at #15, they can always trade down, like they've done in 2 out of the last 4 drafts.

The key is Roy Williams. He won't turn 27 until December of this year. That means he'd be the next goto receiver who'd take over for T.O. when he hangs them up OR give the Cowboys some flexibility if they decide not to extend T.O.

#15 is pure icing on the cake. They can go anywhere with it: RB, CB, S, whatever. Remember, the Cowboys are playing with what gamblers call " house money " because of the extra #1. We'd be extremely lucky to get an impact player like Roy Williams with the 22nd pick, we'd worship the football gods forever if we get one of those with the 28th. All they'd be giving up, really, is a late 2nd round pick to move up to #15.

Also, we have to consider that the roster is loaded with talent, meaning that they'd have to make some painful cuts in order to find a place for those picks. We sure as heck don't want them to draft " back ups " ( ala 1995 ) again, so if they can manage to trade some of that " quantity " for a little better " quality ", they'd be ahead of the game.

LOL!

And we can very easily shaft the Lions by trading away #15 to move back down and steal another second back.

it is not a far fetched trade that favors detroit by a landslide, i'll give the detroit fans that, but do they realistically believe that matt millen can go five picks without picking up a wide receiver? hello, charles roder, mike williams, roy williams, calvin johnson?

The main problem I see with a trade like this is that we wouldn't be able to address our three main problem areas: CB, WR, and speed RB. I don't think it's a bad trade, but we wouldn't have a 2nd round pick to draft a speed RB. However, it would allow us to get a WR that is already NFL ready, and probably a higher ranked CB. Guess we could take a RB in the third round, but I really want someone explosive like Felix Jones. We won't get that in the 3rd or 4th round.

I see no way that this deal works since we can't possibly give them the #30 pick. We don't own it.
