Detroit playing like they did was not all that surprising, if you analyze their season...

they almost beat:
Seattle Seahawks (lost by 3)
New England Patriots (Detroit led the entire game)
Chicago Bears (Lions led by 4 in the 4th and almost held on)
St. Louis (lost by 7 in a shootout)
and many other close games

They beat the Buffalo Bills by 3, creamed the Atlanta Falcons (30-14), and beat us (our 4 turnovers and Roy's INT called back sure helped).

It's not like we got blown out by an inept team...

the Lions passing offense is top 7 and 1 yard/game from being top 5 in the NFL:

So inept is somehow worse than winning 3 games out of 16?

No its just that everyone is looking at detroits record and automatically assume we suck because we lost to a 2-13 team when that team was better than their record indicated.

If we had lost to Tampa that bad then fine, we suck real bad. Detroit is bad but its like oakland who had a pretty good defense but had a terrible offense and their record was worst than detroits.

Look, we made many mistakes in that game that made that game easy for Detroit. They started about 5 possession on our end of the field and we turned the ball over twice on our end of the field.

Seattle does not have near the offense as Detroit, Philly, NO, or even Atlanta. Hassleback is not better than Kitna ( remember the season he had two years ago taking over for Palmer in Cincy) and their offense is not the same as a Mike Martz offense.

We should put up more points on offense and our defense, running the 4-3, should be able to keep more pressure on their offense.

I think we win this game because they will not be able to keep up with us.

Prediction

38-24 Dallas

Then we will play a Grossman lead offense in Chicago. Can you NFC championship game.

You guys are ridiculous! Its not sugar coating but its putting some perpective to the loss. Sure detroit has a bad record but they lost 10 of those 13 by less than 8 points. Basically a touchdown and each game was won in the fourth quarter. Just like the Dallas game. They actually should have beaten Chicago, which has the second best record in the league.

I dont like losing to them but I echo what Parcells said in his PC that he knows that this team can play better. Romo lost fumbles and threw a pick. RW drop a pick. We made mistake more than they beat us. Sure they made quite a few plays on us but like the thread indicated, this was a top 10 offense that is pass oriented.

Our last 3 losses have come against offenses that are ranked pretty much in the top 5 in the league. When you give a high powered offense great field position like we did then you are going to have problems. We helped them score about 24 of their points by giving up ST field positions and turnovers.

Eliminate the mistake and we win. Simple with no sugar coating.

Stop looking at the down side and think that we are the 90s or 70s cowboys that should dominate every oppenent and look at this team as it is. A young team that makes mistake and going thru growing pains but still has the ability to win.

We have seen them play better and they will on Saturday.

Its just getting to be too much.

How many threads do we need like this?

Look... we lost 3 out of 4 games and just gave up 39 points to a 2 win team.

This team has the talent and can string togther wins.

We know they have played better than they have been so lets leave it at that.

And it is SUGAR COATING.

You and everyone else who have started these threads are pulling numbers and history out but when it all comes dow to it we have lost 3 out of 4.

2 HUGE games (NO for #2 and PHI for the East).

We have the talent to wins some post seasons games, maybe all of them.

Everything else said in regards to this are just SUGAR COATED excuses.

It isn't even so much about how good or bad the Lions are. But our team just dropped its third straight home game (all three with huge playoff implications) while looking pretty terrible in the process. Our QB made too many mistakes. Our running game has been non-existant. And our O-line couldn't block a D-line led by Gary Coleman and Webster. Not to mention that our defense can't stop anyone. 5 TDs for Brees? 4 for Vick? 4 for Kitna? I am seriously sick to my stomach...

With that being said, Saturday night couldn't come sooner. Either the season will be behind us, or we give ourselves a chance to make a run at the big one.

I will chill out when people like you quit making excuses for our team.

As for Michigan they havent won a big game in 4 years.

Kind of reminds me of Dallas... so if you wanna laugh at me for Michigan then look youself in the mirror and laugh at yourself for being a Dallas fan.

that means you would have to also laugh at your self, thus you would have more laughs at your self thus making the other guy the winner or what ever you two are complain and laughing at each other about

I just dont get why guys like that have to get "cute" and change the topic.

If I had to guess though its more of a defense mechansim for those who really dont have anything useful to say.

Oh well. Here are two laughs at myself for being a Dallas and Michigan fan.

The problem is they may have given those teams a good fight...But those teams won. We lost at Home with the NFC East Title still a possibility.

There's no sugar coating this loss.

Only thing is all the good teams you mentioned are good because they find a way to win those games, Dallas still finds ways to lose those type of games.
