I expect to see us beat Detroit, but that matchup always scares me. Since GB is the second seed, I would expect that would be the early game the next Saturday in GB. Don't like that short week, but on the other hand we have been great on the road.

We play Sunday at 3 and if we win, we will play the following Sunday at noon. no Saturday matchups

All these people praying Romo "keeps it up" and "doesn't lose his swag" or whatever makes me sick. Try focusing on our DEFENSE staying a "WEfense" and taking care of business against Megatron and co. The Offense isn't an aberration. Romo has had issues in the playoffs in the past because he hasn't had an OLINE..... See Vikings game 2009. Problem SOLVED. It's a team game. We are ANNIHILATING our opponents. We have a good chance. Get off of romo bad juju crap it pisses me off.

Here's a few posts from Detroit Lions forums just for fun

Nothing has really changed. If you're gonna be a Super Bowl champion, you have to be able to go into another team's backyard and win.
They weren't able to do it in the regular season, so they'll have to do it in the playoffs.
Will they? 0-16 in these situations doesn't inspire confidence.

Lions playoff wins since Eisenhower's 2nd term as President: 1991 1
So forgive me if I have doubts that the Lions will win next Sunday.

150 yards rushing to the Pack, Dallas had this guy Demarco Murray... Heard of him?

Lions come out early to try and establish the run. Three and out.
Dallas play action fakes and hit Dez for a 80 yard TD bomb.
Ross runs out the kick and Lions start on the 10.
Lions run Bush up the middle for zero yards, Bell for 2 and set up the third and 8. Stafford hits Bush for seven and lions punt one yard short.
Romo hits whitten three straight passes. Play action fake, TD Dez Bryant.
lions down 14-0. Lions have given up ZERO yards rushing.
Lombardi runs Bell for -3. Stafford finally in shotgun.
Stafford throws it to Ross who fumbles..... Dallas ball.
Linehan dials up an end around to Dez, who throws a TD pass back to Romo.
End of first lions down 21-0. Ballgame.
fox shows graphics and pictures of the 0-16 lions with Moronelli as coach, then show Linehans offense vs Lombardi's.

I grab a brick but see my son in tears an tell him they will be back next year.....

This is what I posted earlier tonight on a Detroit forum, I hope I'm underestimating our team... Please tell me I'm wrong!

Here's some random thoughts about the game...

Number one, Dallas' OL is not what people make them out to be... They're good, but I can think of more than a couple of teams (including Green Bay) that have a better OL... Romo has actually been sacked more than Rodgers has, and Dallas only averaged 0.1 ypc more than Green Bay when running the ball... I know Rodgers avoids some sacks because of his elusiveness, but Romo is also pretty good at that, just ask JJ Watt... Rodgers has been sacked less, despite having a 100 more attempts than Romo... I'm just saying, Dallas' OL is definitely not worthy of all the hype they've been given by the media... Their OL was considered average at best last season, and the only real change has been rookie Zack Martin... So if the addition of Martin really takes the Dallas OL from average, to hands-down the best OL in the NFL (so they say), then doesn't that make Zack Martin the hands-down choice for Rookie of the Year? I don't think he's the rookie of the year, because I don't think Dallas' OL is the best in the NFL... I'd rank the Saints, NYG, Green Bay, Chargers, and Steelers as having at least slightly better O-Lines...

Time of Possession........................ Dallas and Detroit are virtually tied in this stat, and this is the main reason why Dallas runs as much as they do, and why they always use the entire play-clock... Dallas' main motivation is to protect their defense by winning time of possession... It pretty much doesn't matter if Murray only overages 2.0 yards per carry, he will still get 25-30 carries per game, and as a team Dallas will run it 35-40 times per game... Dallas' offense is still most reliant on Tony Romo completing a high percentage of 3rd downs, many of which are 3rd and long, and Romo has performed well thus far... Detroit meanwhile seems to have a very similar strategy, except their OL and RB are not as good as Dallas'... Still though, hard to argue with the Lions' coaching strategy when it results in 11-5, despite having the lowest rushing ypc in the league...

Defense......... Yikes?....... This is the first time since the Seattle game that Dallas has faced a defense this stout! Dallas put up 30 on Seattle, but they had to play their best and most complete game of the entire season to do it... On the flip-side, it's not every week that Detroit faces a defense this mediocre... I gotta think that Detroit scores at least 28 points... Dallas' point totals against top -10 defenses this season 17, 20, 30, 17... They went 2-2 in those games, and Houston would've beat Dallas with any legit QB play...

I felt good about this game for a few hours, until I really thought about it... Dallas has really only looked scary when beating up on some of the worst defenses in the league... And they looked awesome against Seattle, but as I said, that was Dallas' A++ game on both sides of the ball... It will take a similar near perfect performance for Dallas to beat Detroit on Sunday, and I just think that might be expecting too much... This is just a bad match-up for Dallas... Unfortunately, I think the Lions should win by 7 or more...

You are wrong!

And I understand stats are broken all the time, but here's a fun stat, Matthew Stafford is 0-16 in his career in road games vs teams with a winning record.

I don't really wanna go point by point on this, but Seattle was not even close to a perfect performance. We gifted them 14 points and had a punt blocked for a TD for another 7 points. They did literally NOTHING on us all day and the only reason they were even in that game was because we kept shooting ourselves in the foot.

Fwiw, there's almost nothing in that assessment I could say I agree with. I'll try to elaborate a bit later when I'm on a better device for typing, but you're underestimating our OL and our ability to score points through the air significantly. And I don't think this DET team is any better than the Eagles or Colts teams we just rolled, overall. They just have different strengths.

I think we'll handle them at home similarly to the way GB just handled them today.

Detroit is one of the few teams that has the firepower to put up as many points as us.

Detroit is one of the few teams that has the firepower to put up as many points as us.

The Lion offense only scored 24 or more points five times this year. They are 22nd in the league in scoring offense. If they have that kind of firepower, they have kept it well hidden this year.

Their team is based on their defense - they are 3rd in the league in points allowed.
