for a loss. 1st pick in the draft is at stake. It's all or nothing! This game can be won by the Little Sisters of the Poor HS team. You will see a lay down of gigantic proportions.

If Detroit does something foolish like get ahead in this game you will see the most comical late game muff of some kind that will make a mockery of the NFL.

Sit the starters!

Detroit is preparing Brady Quinn's locker. Why do you think Josh McCown has not even seen the field, even though Kitna has struggled all year. They don't want a wrench thrown into it at this point. If McCown starts and plays like he did in Arizona at times, the Lions may actually win a few games, and be stuck in nuetral going into next season. Quinn is considered by the majority of scouts, a Carson Palmer type prospect. The Lions want him. They will not go out of their way to win at this point.

This contrived "lay down" theory that requires 22 starters to be in cahoots has always had a gaping hole in it as far as I'm concerned. There's the little issue of game film existing for all games in a season, and NFL contracts not being guaranteed. As selfish as certain players are accused of being throughout a season regarding their stats, etc., what truly would convince 22 guys who don't really have a guaranteed spot anywhere for next season to throw a game away and look like garbage on an individual level in the process? What guarantees them they'll reap the benefits of Brady Quinn next season anyhow?

No it doesn't. It takes a few scewed play calls. A few unusual Coaching decisions. Especially in the NFL.

Perhaps. That's the only way I could see a tanking happening, if only a couple of folks in key positions on the coaching staff were in on it. And even then, the way we're playing on defense, it might backfire on them anyhow! :)

I think it's a very dangerous road to walk, even if it's just via screwed up playcalls as you're suggesting. You stand to lose some key players on your team for good as a coach if anyone catches on to what's happening.

The Lions have played hard in every game this year and have lost a whole bunch of close ones. No way does that team throw this game away. Remember, for pretty much every other team that we have played, the dallas game has been their superbowl...no reason it won't be for the Lions.

They will come out tenacious and playing hard, wouldn't surprise me if they gave us a run for our money.

The team picking first will be handcuffed into taking Quinn imo (if they don't want to be second guessed).

For the good of the Lions franchise, I think the best case scenario would be to let the Raiders pick Quinn w/ the first overall. W/ the Lions having the second pick, they could probably trade down a few spots, pick up Brohm and a bunch of picks in the process.

By the time the combine and all the post season practices are over, Quinn is expected to be the highest rated QB to enter the draft since Carson Palmer. You just don't pass on that in my opinion.

Some people let their hate for the Irish get in the way of that.

I agree and the way we've been playing the deep ball lately makes me even more uneasy.

I don't hate ND, if anything, I feel indifferent towards them.

And yes, Quinn will probably be rated significantly higher than Brohm, but Brohm's no scrub. I think the team that takes Brohm w/ the possibilty of adding an additional 1st, 2nd and maybe a 3rd will achieve respectabilty a lot quicker.

Matt Millen is so stupid, I look for a Detroit blowout, perhaps even a shutout. :D

This is pretty much a meaningless game, skip it, Dallas' season will likely end the first weekend of January.
