Devin Lloyd in the 1st?

Pretty much all of my mocks / what I've seen has either Green / Johnson or Lloyd on the board.

I would be happy with any of the 3. But I am sure the media would rip us a new one if we went OG over Lloyd even though OG is a bigger need.

A mock isn't going to consider the mindset of the league. Like I said in a previous post. Some team is going to hope Lloyd is a Micah clone.

Even if OG is the bigger need, Lloyd may be the more impactful player. Zach Martin isn't going to be there at 24. We can probably get a starting OG in the second. I think any expectations for a LB is up in the air after Dean is off the board. So what I'm saying is, Dallas could have both instead of just one.

It's the inability of some fans to equate to the bigger picture....we need enablers to allow the shiny pieces to perform....period. The running game wont necessarily improve by a 'better' RB (indeed we have Pollard, but cant get him in the game as he's not made for a physical game), the big guys need to create lanes, if that's the case TP can take advantage. Similarly the passing game is dependant on a running game, to keep the defense honest (Jimmie Ward 49ers quote) and protect the QB (sacked 5 times vrs 49ers).....doesnt matter how many WR's we have unless we can get them the ball.

Now, we can look at star LB's, but it's the abilities he brings that matters, not that he's the best player. If he improves the run defense by hitting for a loss on every running down, then great, but we do have: Cox, LVE, Kearse than can allow Micah to pass-rush .....If Lloyd is anywhere near a Micah clone then how come he falls to 24.

Nothing works, unless the trenches work. We havent picked a 1st Rd Interior guy since 2014.....and it's showing.

I let the computer automation make selections and it came out like this, which I thought was interesting.

Lloyd looks like a stud.

Not sure I like coming out of this draft without an edge rusher, though.

Seems like over three quarters of the teams have removed Lloyd from their boards due to failed physicals. Have to wonder with him being a 30 visit what the Cowboys found out. Now if he fell into late 3rd or 4th then I would definitely take him. Those failed physicals scare me but typically Jerry would take a chance on him.

Yeah they are in the 20s. I think people get too caught up in these first round picks. As if guys in the 30s and 40s can't play. Sometimes it's worth trading back if you're going to get an extra 3rd round pick for example. Or if a top 10 guy falls. And I don't mean WR. But that's just my opinion.

So they're in the 20's and you'd still want to trade back (but would take a LB, that presumably drops due to concerns). Just say it, you dont want a Guard. you've played WR and probably didnt wonder how the ball got to you

Lloyd isn't going to be there, so it's pointless. If he falls, I'd rather take him. Just like I'd take Hamilton if he fell. As far as the available guards go, I'd rather trade back because I think an extra 3rd outweighs the talent gap in the OL available at 24 and say 34.

Part of the reason I wouldn't go LB in the first is how much quality there will in the second round. Super deep class IMO.

After listening to the pre draft press conference, and hearing just how few first round grades they have, I'm thinking the Cowboys are definitely not sitting at 24. They're either trading up, and if there's no good choice to do that, trading back. Listen to it if you haven't already.

If we havent got a distinct stand out grade and there are a number of players still available then the sense is to try and trade back, as we did last year presumably when we didnt mind Slater or Parsons. What I dont agree with is taking a position LB or WR (granted positions that could do with upgrading or developmental player for sub-packages)....just because that player may have a slightly higher grade (especially when positional value is involved).

Well, do you think Lloyd is not one of the Cowboys first round grades? Me personally, I don't think the Cowboys sit there at 24. I think they either trade up or trade back due to the few first round grades they have. So you don't have to worry about LB. Only if they sit at 24. And only if Lloyd is there.
