TCU suspended redshirt sophomore DE Devonte Fields prior to his expected transfer to Stephen F. Austin which makes him ineligible to play anywhere during the 2015 season, according to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman.
Fields would have to sit out at least one year, so he has decided against enrolling at Stephen F. Austin. "TCU convened a committee, declaring Devonte Fields’ violations of student honor code has warranted his suspension, so no FCS ball either," Feldman tweeted. A similar situation occurred with Ray Ray Armstrong a few years ago. It is only a guess, but we expect Fields to sit out the season, train and enter the 2015 NFL Draft.Aug 8 - 6:29 PM

Looks like a mid round pick to me. I'd take him him the fourth-fifth just off what he showed last season and potential.

He's a talented thug, think of him as a non bipolar Alonzo Spellman, but the same kid of talented loose cannon, and when he's loose he beats women.

Hell of a football player. He is one of my favorite pass rushers coming out next season thus far.

This will be the 2nd year in a row he does not play. High school all american could have went anywhere of his choosing. Stayed home from nearby Arlington s I remember. Outstanding frosh year at Texas Christian. Now he will enter the draft coming off the 2 year vacation.

Former TCU redshirt sophomore DE Devonte Fields has just 2.5 sacks and 3.5 TFLs through five games at Trinity Valley Community College.

Fields was dismissed from TCU after a series of off-field issues. We expected him to dominate at the JUCO level and then apply for the 2015 draft, but apparently that isn't Fields' plan. Firstly, he obviously isn't dominating. Secondly, Fields told Trinity Valley Community College head coach Brad Smiley earlier this month that he intends to play at the Division I level again. If he uses this season to get his life in order, Fields could return to big-time college football in 2015 with the opportunity to rebuild his draft stock, which as a true freshman was Round 1-caliber.

Interesting...I was hoping to get him for cheap next year.

Trinity is one of the better JuCo's around. They curb stomped us in the bowl game last year 72-23. physically he'd ready to declare for the NFL, but with his issues (punching his ex-girlfriend) and the recent events in the NFL, he'd be wise to go play one year at a 4-year school, even if it is a FCS school, and show NFL teams he can stay out of trouble.

What kind of guy was he in school?

My impression of him is that he is immature and not the "RKG" that Garrett would want. Take that with a grain of salt. I honestly don't think he'll make a career out of the NFL.
