So I watched the show for the first time last night and I enjoyed it for the most part. The plot is pretty entertaining.

However, the protagonist seems to sleepwalk through the show, almost as if he's dipped into the Ambein a little too early in the day. Someone should slip him some no-doz into his herbal tea.

Also there was an odd moment in the episode when Dexter's sister discovers her new boyfriend is an author of childrens books and thus not a mystery writer or sum such using her as an inspiration for his new book. I should say she learned this post drama queen tantrum when she broke up with Mr. Dreamy. Now, wouldn't his occupation be established early in the relationship--say within the first 15 minutes of meeting him? Isn't that something you generally discover when feeling out a potential new mate? Especially chicks! But not in this show, the writer would have us believe she's fallen in love, bumped uglies with the dude, but hasn't yet crossed the intimate line of learning his occupation. Please. A re-write was in order.

Other than that, it's not a bad show.

Watch the first episodes of the season and you'll understand why she didn't know it before then.

Don't judge it from one episode. It took me 3 or 4 episodes to get a feel for it.

Oh. Well I hope they replay it then...I'm not really ragging on it too much. Any tv show the holds my attn for an hour can't be too bad.

Oh, and that British chick is a hottie. I'm thinking Dexter (if he can stay awake) is gonna engage in some international relations if you know what I mean...:)

Do you have on demand? If you do you can watch them.

As for him and the british chick it might happen but part of his character is that he really doesn't care for people much less relationships. The only reason he hooked up with his "girlfriend" was that she wasn't interested in a relationship because she was abused by her ex.

You'd really have to watch the first season to fully understand the show.

Yes you really have to see the show from the first season to get a good feel for the character. It would open up the show to you.

Dexter's personality is that he doesn't really react postively or negative in any situation he is put in...he just is calm. throughout season one, you see him make reference to "if my heart could break, it would now"...but alas, it did not.

as for deb, she isn't so bright with guys. right now, because of her recent past history with men, she's not looking for an intimate relationship, what is your life history here is mine, just a purely physical relationship (even it is just cuddling).

Oddly enough last night was the first time he showed any strong emotions. He was visible angry.

I see. So Dexter isn't such a bad actor after all, huh? I really need to get my paws on season 1 it seems. If it's on demand I'll probably pay for it.

If you have showtime on cable, not dish, you are already paying for on demand in most areas.

I am not sure if they still have all of last seasons on there, they did prior to this season starting so they may still have them up.

And yes his acting fits his character to a T IMO.

Often times the character struggles knowing how to pretend to act during certain situations.

Part of growing up was him trying to learn how to appear normal. Even if it was something as small as smiling for a family picture or taking a girl to a dance.

Michael C. Hall is increadibly gifted. Anyone that saw his performance in Six Feet Under can tell you that he sold that character as 100% believable.

Dexter is a much different character than David Fisher yet Michael switched gears seamlessly.

As for Dex's sister Deborah, she's just annoying. Maybe they'll have Lila knock her off later in the year.

I love how he reacts (or lack thereof) to being put into tight situations...when he was in danger of exposure from that cuban kid, he looked apprehensive, but was still composed, like oh well, if I get caught, I'll get caught.

I agree with the other poster, out of all the characters, Deb is probably my least favorite.

Dexter is emotionless which is why he seems "Sleepy" all the time.

The only time he "Feels" anything is when he kills, and that's what made him become a serial killer (basically).

I don't think anyone likes the sister.

I thought it was just the actress but now I think it is also the character.

I agree. It took me a while to see the character has being Dexter and not David.

On a side note.....I find it funny how many former Oz actors are on the show.
