Damn sure wouldn't be his soon to be ex-wife. (Jennifer Carpenter) Her acting skills suck something fierce. Not sure how she got the job in the first place.

I agree... her character rubs me the wrong way and her lack of acting skills in this role may have something to do with it...

I know she CAN act... she was great in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose"...

Hmm I haven't seen that movie. Dexter is the first place I've ever seen her. Might have to check it out. Is it a good movie?

Not crazy about her character either. At least she doesn't have a cigarette hanging out of her mouth in every scene like the first couple of seasons. They need to work on her dialogue also. Every other word is an f bomb.

I really liked it... My family hates horror films and they really liked it, of course all films are subjective...

It was my daughter that yelled out "That's Emily Rose" during season 1 of Dexter... :laugh2:

Meh...couple of cool parts but did not think it was great. Others have liked it. She does a better job acting in it.
She was also in some other movie that was not good at all...Quarantine.

Yeah, Jennifer Carpenter was terrific in ...Emily Rose, but she's not particularly good as Deb, at least IMO. I think it's more the way the character is written than her though.

:laugh2: I haven't seen all of this season yet, so I have kept out of the thread. I guess the mods decided to put my post "in its' place". I'm still not reading the first page though!

I enjoy Dexter, but it's like the guilty pleasure show, and not a genuinely well written one. True Blood is in the same vein. You really need to watch The Wire, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, and some other great shows if you want to see TV shows at their best. =)

Dexter is well written. You have to take into account what it takes to make a show about a Serial Killer/Police Officer that never gets caught, believable.

On a poorly written show, the amount of close calls he's had would have been ludicrous by this point.

It's pretty ludicrous at this point. It's still a good show. Some of the writing is sloppy, but that always happens when shows run this long. New writers etc.

Trueblood is one of the most awful shows I've ever had the displeasure of watching. It's no where near the standard that HBO has set for their TV shows. It's embarrassing. It wouldn't at all be popular if Vampires weren't the craze right now. The acting makes me want to vomit.

Sopranos had 3 good seasons tops, then it turned into garbage. The last season was atrocious. If that's TV at it's best count me out =/

Deadwood was pretty good, just not as good as Dexter has been. I want to watch Six Feet but haven't had the opportunity.

TV at it's best would be HBO's Rome.

Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall are calling it quits.

The Dexter stars, who play brother and sister on the Showtime series, are ending their two-year marriage, their reps tell Entertainment Weekly.

"Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," the reps say in a joint statement.

It's just come out that he was cheating with Julia Styles. Fail.
