Does anyone else worry about the prospect of the Commissioner punishing Dez with a 1-2 games suspension announced a few days before the opener against New York?

No, not really. While the timing of it would fit the Commissioner's previous tendencies, I don't think there's enough reason for him to take any action. The fact is that, while Dez has been in the news prior to this incident, it has been much ado about nothing, for the most part. I mean, c'mon...he refused to pull his pants up for a rent-a-cop in a mall?!? Please. He ran up a debt and had it run through a collection agency?!? It's happened to a lot of young kids who suddenly find themselves with money. Dumb, but hardly criminal.

This latest incident was, of course, a VERY different situation, and I fully expect the Commissioner's office to look into it. But considering the charges were dropped and there's no further legal ramifications coming from it, along with there being no previous criminal record, and there's really no grounds for any suspension.

Granted, but they have to have some legitimacy to hold up. There's no way that the commissioner could say that a player having debt or getting into a disagreement with a mall cop are creating a negative impression of the league overall. Hell, if that kind of thing counted, he'd be suspending a third of the league, including probably a handful in his own office.

The one event that could be construed as a true blemish against the league is the latest one, and since there was no follow-up action or judgment, it will likely get filed away as a "strike one" in Dez's file.

People keep saying this, but its only based on one situation in particular, where that player still did break the law and repeatedly put himself in situations around underage girls where alcohol was involved.

The fact that Dez has not been summoned to Goodell's NYC offices can probably be interpreted as a good sign.
