If the ball goes backward after the fumble, it's where the ball is next touched (if I understand correctly). Dez's ball was touched at the DAL 40, which is why it's -11 yards, even though it went out of bounds even further back, at the 30.

It doesn't make any sense. Dez caught the ball and gained 5 yards before he fumbled. The lost yardage should be counted against the team, just like a sack.

Right. Once he fumbled, the reception/possession was over so why do the lost yards count against the player who caught the ball. Maybe it always works this way. Just seems weird.

In related news story the Dallas Cowboys still won the game and Tony Romo still orchestrated the winning drive.

The league is looking into how this travesty occurred and the Giant's still lost after the change in Dez' yardage.

On a local note "haters" are more convinced it was Romo's fault Dez lost the yards.

Tears are being spilled by the opposition.
