Dez Contract Question

Not that it really matters to me as a fan, but just out of curiosity, was there anything built into Dez's contract to account for potential time missed (due to injury or otherwise)? I seem to recall that there may have been something in the contract which would reduce his guaranteed money if he misses significant time this season.

No. The rest of his guarantee kicks in early next year if he's on the roster.

I suppose they could cut him.....but they won't unless his foot fell off. In which case 10-12 weeks seems a bit aggressive a Timeline.

DEZ is very happy he has that long term contract now !!!

No, they used about 3 different methods to delay how much money he got up front, but his money was not tied to incentives. The team does have an option in March of 2016 on keeping him or paying an additional bonus but that was really just one of the methods to delay his bonus money, not a realistic way to avoid paying him if something happened.

I would guess that there are incentives in most contracts. I doubt Dez would be able to attain any this year (assuming there are any). For example, making the pro bowl, number of TDs, super bowl appearance, etc.
