So. I haven't seen any updates. Anyone think this deal gets done before the superbowl? Or is that not possible.

Cowboys got until March to get something done. But the coaches are priority one since teams have their coaching staffs in place by February.

It's possible but I would be surprised if a deal was done by then. Really it's hard to say because talks could be ongoing with nothing reported yet and everyone left in the dark.

is there gentlemen's deal in place that no new contracts on stars and stuff will be announced before the SB, at this point int he post season.

My personal opinion is that Dez will be franchised but will agree to a long term deal before training camp.

I think there's little chance of a contract prior to the application of the tag. Most contracts seem to get done when there's pressure on both sides, so I imagine something will get done in the last week before the deadline to be able to talk contracts.

If he is franchised it means we can't manipulate his contract early in free agency, and thus will have less cap room. He has quite a bit of power to make sure that doesn't happen.

I would be surprised if anything is announced prior to the SB. Jerry doesn't make those splash announcements anymore, so it seems.
However, he should crash the SB halftime show, and announce it....

Jerry....Sorry to interrupt your entertainment. But I'm really not sorry, uhhmm..., but I have some news that is not DEFLATING to Cowboys fans, and is a great CATCH for our team, the Dallas Cowboys, Dez has greed to terms and are undisclosed, but it is rumored the Patriots have tape of the signing......uhhmmm...back to your entertainment....

I go along with, maybe a week or so before FA begins we will hear something.

Hard to say since there is no word on negations the fact that the Franchise Tag is out there and this is something Dez wants to avoid this process may take a while

you know that the whole coaching staff is back already with the exception of callahan? they just have to fill his spot is it, and it looks to be colombo.

Pollack has already been named as OL coach with Colombo potentially serving as his assistant.

Yup they got it done last week. But they have until March to get a new deal for Dez. Until they make a few salary cap moves I would not expect anything.

I agree however I think Dez contract will set the tone for what Dallas will do with other priority FA on this team. Once Dez contract is complete it will give Dallas a better idea of what we will or will not be able to do both in our own FA and outside FA

I agree... If I was dallas I would target the low tier guys first. The big decisions would be Carter, Mclain and Murray.
