Dez is great on X.
And he is right. This team is not going anywhere soon. It just seems like the Cowboys have no plan. People talk about a team having an identity. This team hasn't had an identity in years. Or, if they think their identity is Dak, that's even worse.
Worse, I don't think the Cowboys leadership is on the same page. I think the people Jerry hires are "yes" men and just go along because they are thrilled to have the jobs they have. While Jerry zigs and zags his way through is GM responsibilities, the have to keep up or just go along. There is no continuity in strategy. Is it true when Jerry traded for Lance McCarthy had no idea? If so, is that not the problem with everything with this team?
Schottenheimer is just another coach in a line of coaches willing to let Jerry be Jerry. If it wasn't Schottenheimer, it would be some other desperate HC looking for the title and willing to give in to Jerry.
We could have hope that Jerry, at 82, is drawing close to retirement, but it appears Stephen taking over will be even worse. Our best hope is Stephen is unwilling to accept the criticism that comes with season after season of failure.
