I think I'm going to have to eat crow here - I always thought of Dez as a team-first, hyper competitive TEAM player. With his early injury return, that seemed to be proof. But he keeps proving me wrong and its bumming me out. No player gets more excuses on this board than him, but even through those homers I thought I saw this "Irvin-like" team passion.

Boy was I wrong - I keep seeing plays like this, be it getting blocked downfield after a pick, or all the drops, etc. I hate to admit it but sometimes it seems like he's only happy for his teammates if the team is going well, else its give me my numbers.

Here TWill is running across the field and Dez just stands there. He at best could have taken 3 Jets out of the play had he come up and hit Revis...at worst the block doesn't impact the play but he could have hit Revis and laid out some punishment.

I had put him in the Sean Lee camp - effort no matter the circumstance, and maybe this year is getting to him, but you'd like to see him at least try to throw a block for his teammate.

You do NOT give a hot head like that a mega deal like JJ did. It will come back to haunt. He's not a bad guy IMO...just immature. He isn't the kind of guy you want around when things get really tough frankly. Reminds me a lot of T.O.

lol wow just wow....

Posters have gone to all new lows to take Jabs at Dez.

This guy cares about his team, proof that he probably came back to early from the Injury. Yet we are going to nit pick plays like this?

Really the team as a whole blew chunks this year. Obviously the holdout hurt, and getting hurt in camp and the first game of the season did not help Dez at all.

But the Kid is still a great player and would do anything for this team and teammates. He has done very well for himself on and off the field and does not have legal troubles that would lead him to being suspended by the league.

Some of you just don't like him for whatever lame *** reason you come up with. But you'll have to deal with the fact he his Homegrown and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Suck it up cupcakes!

What has he done to lead you to believe he is immature and a hot head? Has he pulled the BS that OBJ has pulled? Has he been suspended? Has any of the claims about outburst actually been proven? All the evidence points that those things on the sidelines were not malicious at all. But be my guess push the agenda, it's been a frustrating year and he has handled it well and is nothing like T.O as a look at me first player, such a weak comparison.

Comments like this remind me of the Warren Moon comments about Dez

The effort on the Cassel interception was awful. I love Dez and I believe he will live up to his contract BUT...

This team better get a backup QB worth something or a QB for the future. Chances are likely that Dez will finish this contract with a QB not named Romo---Dez is one of Romo's biggest fans, if a QB takes over and the Cowboys are struggling with Dez not getting the ball, I do think there is a chance you see a bad side of Dez.

I don't know what you expect him to do on that play. But ok. I think we are being really picky here. I understand if there is a pass where Dez stops his route, doesn't give full efforts, etc. But, I think we are being hypercritical.

Where is this bad side everyone keeps talking about? He's never displayed that "side" that you people speak of at any level he has played, now all of a sudden it's going to happen?

Seems to me that once Moore came into the game the team as a whole had an extra pop in their step including Dez.

Problem with Dez right now is that he is pressing to hard on the field and it's costing him in errors. Once he settles down he will be fine. But this bad side **** is getting old. He isn't OBJ with a bad entitled attitude who cheap shots players and gets fined and ejected, because he selfish.

My posting history tells the story that I'm not hypercritical. But yes, I do expect at least some effort on plays out of a guy that just got paid and we make excuses for. I'm a huge Dez fan but I don't blindly suck up to him - how many times this year has he just been jawing with a player while play is still going on - or like after that Cassel interception just lets a smaller player push him 15 yards downfield without any effort.

I gave just one example, but this isn't unique. And on this particular play I'm saying if he makes a block maybe (not likley) Terrance can turn that corner.

This bothers me more just because its like he didn't help his teammate. Maybe Witten did this also on that end around referenced above, but I've not noticed that time after time. Now if we're talking about false starts - throw Witten's name in the pile. Leaders set examples, not just yell.

Anyway, my 2 cents. I love the player, I'm glad we signed him - but this isn't modern politics, I don't have to agree with every thing the guy does to like him.

There have been several times this season where fans and prominent members of the media have called Dez out for his lack of effort. In the game thread, we had a discussion on the Cassel interception...Dez was looking for someone to block him instead of making the tackle and he got drove 5 yards down the field. Dez Bryant is one of my favorite Dallas Cowboys but I can admit I have seen another side of him with bad QB play and when the team is losing, I just hope we have better QB play when Romo is not playing in the future.

He definitely should have launched himself at one of the DBs like a human missile once TWill was corralled on the sideline already by 3 guys. The 15 yard penalty would be productive. Yeesh.

There's some critiques of Dez man, but I don't think effort and passion will ever be one of them.

Thats not the only time. He does this lazy type of stuff 2-3x a game. Hes talented but runs lazy routes and gets jedi mind tricked by dbs. Oh and his televised displays of passion dont trick me. The time that he was shirtless and in his underwear screaming snd clapping by the locker room reminded ne of a WWE skit.

Dez is sacred cow on this board
Better wear your body armour if you criticize him even a little

Fact is that Dez is immature and a hot head who gives less than full effort on many plays and his route running leaves much to be desired. He has too many limitations and gets taken out of the game too easily by mediocre CBs to be worth the contract he was given.

Other than that, he's great

.......Do you have the play where Witten's effort is showcased on Lucky Whiteheads' run. Trying to see why a thread would just single out Dez? Its known that Dez isn't liked....I'm just trying to prove the same about JWitten under the same criteria, and then I'll conclude "Better wear your body armour if you criticize him even a little." too.

I would bet you can look at any player and come up with a nit pick on that player being lazy.

What was Dez to do, run up and get a penalty for a block in the back? Looks to me, he, as any player needed to see how the play was to develop and what direction TWill was going to go.
Ok, be a Jeff Heath and just grab someone to negate the first down.

Well, the only player I haven't noticed, but don't look at every play either, is La'el Collins, seems he is always looking to pancake someone. Gets up field and keeps looking to block.
