Dez, Gordon rumor PFW, FWIW

Seems like BS. We have trouble with Dez then plan to replace him w/ a rookie supplemental draft pick who hasn't played in a year w/drug history?

Dez is making progress as WR and to dump that progress and start all over again w/ a riskier prospect doesn't sound right

Come on, Dez puts up a monster season, then what? We trade him? There would have to be T.O./Adam Jones type transgressions to make this rumor a little bit more weighty.

The article says Gordon is still raw as a route runner, having run a very limited route tree at Baylor. He needs considerable work on his release and has yet to adopt a professional work ethic

It mentions drug problems dating back to HS, and academic issues as well.

I can't imagine this would be Garrett's kind of guy.

Plus we have put in the ground work on Dez, why get rid of him now?

I do not believe this rumor.

However, if we draft Gordan.....which I do not believe we will.

SMOKE will be on this Fire.

Pretty much agree, PFW not known for throwing stuff against the wall though. OTOH if the Cowboys spend a particularly early pick on Gordon, could be something to it. I think Stephen Jones mentioned something last year about them being concerned about Dez. He disapeared in alot of second halves of games, and it isnt like Jerry would have a hard time finding out what he was up to off the field. If this was a no name blogger I'd be more inclined to totally dismiss.

Dez is pretty good already and, as we know, he has huge upside.

But if we drafted then the way we draft now with Garrett has HC, I think we may have taken Devin McCourty AND Navarro Bowman for those picks we gave up to get Dez. Or maybe Gronkowski or someone else instead of McCourty. I think we liked Bowman and even though we took Lee at pick 55, we would have grabbed him with our 90 th pick because Lee was coming off of injury. If not, there's Jimmy Graham siting there for the taking.

Now the we have Dez, I think he'll get a chance to prove himslef for the long term. If he can't be trusted after this year, the clock will be ticking. He could be great, so you have to let this play out.

As for Gordon...
this is classic in how people take the highly unknown and project it on the NFL level.
On "The Fan" yesterday they were talking how we had to take him. And they said if you use a draft pick on him, you MUST play him. That's a joke. Put his measurables beside Holmes and Gordon actually comes up short. Plus, what about the other young guys that we also used draft picks on and who have not had a real shot or TC yet? For that matter what about any of the young guys? They all are in the same boat as Gordon--probably ahead of him--and we already have then in the fold.

There's only one phrase to correctly address the rumor:

CHILD PLEASE!

When Dez was a rookie I <believe> I read something along the lines that the Cowboys assigned him a handler or someone from the organization to keep an eye on him and essentially baby-sit him.

Question -- am I wrong on this?

Question 2 -- If they did do this, are they still doing it today?

Ben of Ben and Skin has said for a few months that we have no intention of re-signing Dez. That might even be where the rumor came from. I can't imagine that decision would already be made, but that's what he says. Says all the headaches aren't worth it.

Which is why I can't imagine we'd even think about this Gordon guy. I will LMAO if we even put in a bid after all the RKG talk.

That's why it's hard for me to believe.

And even the drafting of this Gordon guy wouldn't change my mind. There are two solid WRs on this roster. Everybody else is a question mark, so why wouldn't they consider another WR.

That said, I'm with you about Lol'ng after all the RKG talk. This guy doesn't sound anything like what I thought we were defining RKGs to be.

.
True.
My issue with taking Gordon is that since we do have a ton of young WRs that have question marks (a few who could end up being pretty good) why would we add one with equal or more question marks on to the pile?

I'd think if we brought anyone in it would be a vet...and that would be after we had a better guage of what we already have in-house.

Well, I think it comes down to money.

Another young, promising WR would be a cheaper option than an aging vet playing on a vet minimum.

And a vet probably wouldn't be brought until after the 1st week anyway.

Why do so many fans dislike Dez? He has passion for the game, a ton of talent, not a locker room cancer, no issues with drugs, scores a lot of touchdowns (and they count even if the Cowboys lose the game), and is only 23 years old as right now.

The only things I know of is that the Cowboys have not won as many games as fans would like with him on the team, Romo has thrown some INTs on passes intended to him, he sagged his pants that time ???, he wouldn't carry shoulder pads for Roy Williams, and he was late paying bills on jewelry.

To dump him would be D. U. M. B.

With all the RKG talk, wasn't it Garrett that said that the team still evaluates all players even if they have risk, but if the reward far outweighs the risk, they may still draft said player?
