I was just thinking about this one and thought I would share. The "when Miles returns" question has been cycled and recycled. I know this thought might sound a little radical but hear me out.

With Laurent and Miles on the outside and Dez in the slot, you will have just created a huge matchup problem for opposing DCs. Most DCs aren't willing to move their outside CBs into the slot to cover. Most will place the 3rd CB in that role. Could you imagine us forcing hands by running Dez out it the slot position?

Wouldn't it be fun to watch opposing DCs squirm trying to handle that adjustment?

Not sure.

Some have questioned his knowledge of the playbook. And if that was the case putting him on the inside could hinder both him and the offense more so than keeping him on the outside.

Robinson has more experience and seems to be the better route runner.

Slot receiver needs to read defense like the QB and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure he can do that nor do I believe Tony trust him enough.

Right now, I would just like to see Miles on the field! I don't care where he plays....just got out there!

Would Randy Moss ever play in the slot? Of course not and neither should Dez. Dez like Moss is a pure deep threat. Either Robinson or Austin can play the slot.

Love the responses. It's just a hypothetical. Dez would slay in the slot though. Does he know the offense well enough? Great question. My first thought would be no. It's still nice to dream though. Please don't break out the "this ain't Madden" on me...lol

Robinson would...if the coaches let him.

I hope Dez can play some slot at times during his career. Probably not now, but in the future it would be nice if he could run a play or two from the slot position to keep defenses on their toes. Nothing wrong with some flexibility and diversity in the offense from time to time.

Your slot guy needs good chemistry with the QB. That says Austin or Robinson to me.

Watch and see....

Dez is not a slot type receiver...

What makes Dez dangerous aren't his route running or speed.

It's his ability to go over the top of the defender, and snatch the ball.

So on the outside it's easier for that. Slot? not really, you have to run sharp routes, be quick in them, and be smart.

Dez isn't smart enough to run the slot.

I don't want Dez in the slot. He'll screw it it all up for Witten being effective over the middle with his poor routes. I'd rahter put Austin in the slot because he knows what he's doing, so he and Witten in tandem in the middle can be dangerous.

Then you basically use Bryant to run deep routes to clear the safeties, and Robinson on the other side to run the real targeted routes against single coverage.

And if Bryand somehow breaks free far enough from the defender deep then Romo can look that way, or check down immediatley to Robinson, Witten and Auatin. In short, Dez would be the perfect decoy to clear defnses.

i personally like this...very much.

He could do it. The kid has unreal talent.

Wouldn't it be fun watching opposing DCs squirm when they see Dez lined up in the slot? Nothing permanent... Just 3-5 plays a game.

Instant Timeout.

has better chemistry with Romo...they seem to really be on the same page. Then again, Robinson is that way too....hey, like hos said: Dez oozes talent and could certainly do it. As bleu star notes, just LINE him up there a few times: even if it's a run play. It'll give the DC's more to scheme for and in this league, that's big. Bottom line: we have 4 guys that could do it: Miles,Dez, LR and even Ogletree. Nice problem to have.

edit: make that 6: Felix and/or Murray can line up there too if need be.....
