Got to Fedex field today around 11:00 a.m. A group of friends and I decided to go the seating area/field to see if anyone was there. Low and behold, Bryant is throwing and catching 50 yard passes. He's making them look effortless, 1 handed and what not. It was surprising cause not too many other players were out there at this time. Carr, Scandrick, Harris, etc., all were doing some light jogging and stretching.

Dez's first TD run had everyone in the crowds standing. On his 2nd TD, Skin's ownership wouldn't allow the replay to be viewed on the big screen. All I could see was Dez pleading for a challenge to be thrown and after the ref went under the hood, the words "the ruling on the field is reversed. Touchdown!" was heard. AMAZING. :starspin:

Dez gets paid. Gets paid first. We dont lose Dez for any reason. period. I also think he isnt the type to sign a big contract and relax. no way. He is easily a top 5 WR in the NFL right now and he is on his prime.

Dez gets paid and there is no other choice...

Jerry has already said as much. Anyone arguing about paying Dez is doing so in futility.

I'm the first to say top WR's alone won't get you anything, and I still stand by that, but Dez brings a lot more to the team than just his catches.

First off glad you had an awesome time! What a great game to see live!

As for not showing the replay, I thought it was a rule they have to show on the big screen what the refs are seeing under the hood?

On the big screen, they showed the ref looking under the hood. Seriously. They wouldn't show Dez toe tapping for the TD. I just had to look that up now on NFL.com.

Pay the man..

Dude's a beast.. I am so glad that the TD reception is now owned by a TRUE COWBOYS player.. Not some scrub rent a WR....

Dez and ODB will run the NFC east.

Eagle fans seriously thought Maclin was in the discussion :lmao:

I'm gonna take a stab...9/$120.6M with $50M guaranteed.

That might be pretty close to the mark.

I expect the team wants at least a seven year contract and is open to going longer than that.

I did an example of what the deal might look like last week.

Dez Bryant

7 years, $114M total, $20M signing bonus, $48M guaranteed, $16.285M average annual value.

2015: $2M base (guaranteed), $4M signing bonus proration = $6M cap number
2016: $12M base (guaranteed at start of league year), $4M signing bonus proration = $16M cap number
2017: $14M base (guaranteed at start of league year), $4M signing bonus proration = $18M cap number
2018: $15M base, $4M signing bonus proration = $19M cap number
2019: $16M base, $4M signing bonus proration = $20M cap number
2020: $17M base, $0 signing bonus proration = $17M cap number
2021: $18M base, $0 signing bonus proration = $18M cap number
2022: Free agent

The contract will be restructured in 2016 and 2017 to lower the cap hits.

2016: $2M base, $6M signing bonus proration = $8M cap number (creates $8M in cap space)
2017: $4M base, $8M signing bonus proration = $12M cap number (creates $8M in cap space)
2018: $15M base, $8M signing bonus proration = $23M cap number (option to restructure, $22M dead money, $8M dead money with June tag)
2019: $16M base, $8M signing bonus proration = $24M cap number ($14M dead money if released, $8M dead money with June tag)
2020: $17M base, $4M signing bonus proration = $21M cap number ($6M dead money if released)
2021: $18M base, $2M signing bonus proration = $20M cap number ($2M dead money if released)
2022: Free agent

This example is designed to be cap friendly up front in order to allow other signings while Tony Romo and Jason Witten are hopefully still on the roster.

Some reports suggest the team is hesitant about giving Dez too much guaranteed money up front in the new contract.

I don't know if that's accurate or not.

It would mean a much lower signing bonus and high base salaries from the start that wouldn't be restructured.

7 years, $110M total, $12M signing bonus, $55M guaranteed, $15.71M average annual value.

2015: $6M base (guaranteed), $2.4M signing bonus proration = $8.4M cap number
2016: $10M base (guaranteed at start of league year), $2.4M signing bonus proration = $12.4M cap number
2017: $12M base (guaranteed at start of league year), $2.4M signing bonus proration = $14.4M cap number
2018: $15M base (guaranteed at start of league year), $2.4M signing bonus proration = $17.4M cap number
2019: $17M base, $2.4M signing bonus proration = $19.4M cap number
2020: $18M base, $0 signing bonus proration = $18M cap number
2021: $20M base, $0 signing bonus proration = $20M cap number
2022: Free agent

Jerry Jones shared his thoughts following today's game.

If Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has concerns about Dez Bryant's behavior off the field that could have delayed a contract extension for the Pro Bowl wide receiver, he has not told anybody.

"Nobody in the world knows those issues but me and maybe [executive vice president Stephen Jones], relative to the Cowboys," Jones said after the Cowboys' 44-17 win over the Washington Commanders.

"I noticed a lot of talk about 'people within the organization,' that type of thing. Nobody breathing or living, [not] any coach, anybody knows anything that would concern me or Stephen about signing him to a contract within the Cowboys organization.

So anytime anybody says, quote, Cowboys sources, they don't know what they're talking about."
