If he matches last year, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

(from an earlier thread)

If Dez simply performs to a level equal to his averages of the last three years, he will become only the third WR with 400+ catches, 6000+ yards, and 70+ TD in his first six seasons.

Bryant's numbers are projections.

Moss 1998-2003 525 rec 8375 yd 77 TD
Rice 1985-1990 446 rec 7866 yd 79 TD
Bryant 2010-2015 472 rec 6736 yd 70 TD

It would be helpful if our 2 and 3 receivers burned guys, would make it easier for our 1 receiver to see more single coverage. By all accounts, seems like Beasley is going to be a stud, and body catcher may be a little threat this year.

No, last year went about as well as it could for dez. Moss was doing silly stuff to get his 23; scoring 4 tds in a half, patriots were blowing teams out by 50. I don't see the cowboys/dez having that kind of year.

Without Murray we won't be leaning on the run game as much. I wouldn't be surprised to see dez get more touches. Just my opinion obviously

That could be, but also jerry is now paying dez what 8 times as much money, so he might pressure linehan and JG to throw more to
Dez.
this might work out good or bad.
Or it is possible they stick with throw to dez only if single cov.
But that lets the defense dictate when and how much dez is thrown to.

if they're not going to run it as much, defenses don't have to drop that safety in the box to respect the run, and dez will see a lot less 1 on 1 looks. Romo (and garrett) would rather throw away from coverage than force it to dez.

Percy, I'm curious about your approach to selecting criteria the interesting comparisons you post like this.

Why 400/6000/70 vs 500/6000/60, etc?

I agree. I think Beasley will be a good option this year and our "#2" WR will be all sorts of meh with a flash here and there. Sometimes making us happy and sometimes really ticking us off.
Bease will probably make us smile more often than not.

We need a better #2 WR.

I think the red zone touches will be there
But I think out in the field we will run the ball in the ballpark of the times we did last year, but beastly is going to get lot more touches than last year
Dez is a tremendous reciever but it will all come down to how effective our run game is
If we can run the ball effectively and force teams to bring up a safety to help, that helps all the receivers
But at least till we prove we can run the ball, teams are going to try everything to stop dez
We have to make it pick your poison

Not sure how many TDs he'll get this year. It'll be some feat if he tops last season's 16... but I wouldn't be surprised if he led the league with 1,500+ receiving yards.

To emphasize Dez's incredible TD numbers.

500/6000/60 emphasizes receptions, which filters out Rice and Bryant. Still an impressive list though.
Moss 1998-2003 525 rec 8375 yd 77 TD
Harrison 1996-2001 522 rec 7078 yd 62 TD

Here's 400/7000/70 (emphasis on the yards)
Moss 1998-2003 525 rec 8375 yd 77 TD
Rice 1985-1990 446 rec 7866 yd 79 TD

400/6000/60 lets in all kinds of riffraff.
Moss 1998-2003 525 rec 8375 yd 77 TD
Rice 1985-1990 446 rec 7866 yd 79 TD
Harrison 1996-2001 522 rec 7078 yd 62 TD
Bryant 2010-2015 472 rec 6736 yd 70 TD
Rison 1989-1994 475 rec 6453 yd 60 TD

Dez has had a HOF start to a career.
