Dez practiced today

Good for Dez. One way or another he's going to get his money, good to see him out practicing while they work it all out. He makes the team better by being there.

Dez is a terrible negotiator, but I love that about him. He participated in OTA drills today despite not signing his tender yet.

Bad poker face, Dez. But you love football, so do what you love.

Have to love his youthful enthusiasm.

Dez is not negotiating his contract.

Also Oscan came to camp and got a raise.

Also nobody believes that Dez doesn't want to be a Cowboy or is willing to hold out. Pretending like he is/would hold out would be the very definition of bad negotiating.

Also Dez is going to get a huge contract whenever he signs. The Cowboys and Dez and RocNation know it.

He visited per the other reports and thread or he actually practiced per this thread?

Dez isn't going to get a monster deal if he suffers a big injury working out. He's taking a real risk. It's all good for the team, but not so good for team Dez if he has a Sean Lee moment.

Good, but that is not a good idea for him. If he had a career ending injury before signing the Tag, then the Cowboys would not have to pay him the Tag amount. They could pay him zero if that happened.

He makes a bad turn, pops an ACL, and then what?

It wasn't smart, but the guy loves it too much to stay home.

No actually what do the Cowboys do?

Rescind his tag and make him an unrestricted free agent? For an injury that is no longer considered as serious as it was a few years ago?

Nope. He'll still get his money he just won't be playing this year. Or else he'll go out into the market with a torn ACL and sign a huge deal with another team who is willing to "redshirt" him.

He could have also signed a good faith agreement before practicing. Much like Dante Fowler did with the Jags this year...you know...tore his acl during rookie minicamp....before he signed his deal....but then signed his big deal a few days later.

I don't think that would happen at all...but a discount on a long-termed contract might.

What career ending injury is he going to sustain? In shorts and a t-shirt. The risk is seriously very very very small. And we don't know if he had a good faith agreement in place with the team. At least for his franchise tender amount.

His agent(s) would tell him not to do it.

It is a low probability, but if he is going to practice he should sign the Tag.

Sure. But you don't know what happened behind the scenes to make this happen (to protect Dez). I find it funny people act like Tom Condon an idiot and is willing to forego the huge commission he's in line for when Dez inks.

But more interestingly....Desean Jackson foregoing OTAs to go to basketball games and Dez participating while unsigned.
