Not being a good public speaker isn't necessarily indicative of a lack of intelligence. When someone is nearly unintelligible in an interview, it might seem like stupidity, but it's often just nerves or environment. You can't really judge someone's intellect by their lack of eloquence. While Emmitt isn't the gracious person I expected him to be before I met him, he's never done anything to make me question his intelligence.

Actually, Emmitt did dabble a bit with Sportscasting just after he retired; He signed with the NFL Network in 2004 then parted ways with them before signing with ESPN in 2007. Unfortunately the TV gig was not a good fit for him, as he was not retained when his contract expired in 2009.
