Dez separation stat

And I recall a guy with a 6 YPA, throwing the ball at WRs feet on screens horrible pocket presence and poor footwork on his throws and chucking balls over the heads of WRs..

True.

But I also recall a guy short arming a pass two weeks ago, dropping easy slants against Denver, etc.

These issues run deeper than either/or.

Bro...can you make me a clapper that only responds to my claps :laugh:
Sure. I designed a voice recognition system back back in the eighties before Google designed Alexa in 2014...

I could set it to only respond to only my voice or to anybody's voice including my East Indian professor who I couldn't understand myself.

I'm not a Dez "homer" (or a Dak "homer", either), but I believe the responsibility lies with both of them. Dak's best throws are short to intermediate routes. He does not throw a good deep ball or deep out. The throws he happens to be weakest at just happen to be where Dez excels. Slant routes are just about the only strengths they have in common. They're not a good fit for each other. Out Dez on a team with a QB whose strengths aligned with his, and I believe we'd see a highly productive receiver again.

Dez is who he is, however. Dak will improve on those weaknesses through experience, but I don't think Dez has time to wait on him. Perhaps it is better for all concerned for Dez to move along after this season.

I hope I'm wrong about that, however.

Is this is a measure of their separation the moment the ball leaves the QB's hand towards them, or is it the greatest distance at any point in their route? If it's the first, then the QB can account for the misperception. If they don't throw on time, throw to the wrong spot, or with too much touch, that separation could be gone by the time the ball arrives.
Great questions.

Stats must be very well defined in order to be relevant. This separation stat does not seem well defined.

Here's a link to the list......look jason witten is above Dez at 2.3 Jason is ranked waaaaaaaaaaay to high. What are these guys looking at?

On a dude note my pet player: Vernon Davis is like top 8 and peeps here said he was too old.:dance::dance:

Julio Jones - 2.3
AJ Green - 2.4
Witten - 2.3
TWill - 3.3

This stat might be worthless.

I think many of their stats can be measured reasonably accurately but not this one.

Ouch......dont shoot the messenger

Is Bob Sturm still trying to spin this as Dak is good and it's all the fault of our receivers?

If Dez declined, okay. So, did Williams, Beasley, and Witten all drastically decline in a few months?

EDIT: Yeah, he's trying to run with "ALL OF THEM SUCK NOW!"

Stop listening to these fools.

I wouldn't call every catchable ball that isn't caught a drop necessarily. There are some that are technically catchable but would take a great play. And some where defenders break up the catch, though I guess these would fall under the previous category.

Edit: I see now that is their definition.

Sturm outed himself last year with his ridiculous hyperbole. His analysis is not strong.

Umm...which he is tied for 90th in the league.

Forgot that part of the stat.

So wouldn’t that put A.J. Green, Mike Evans, Julio Jones at around 90 too then?

So maybe folks should stop hanging their hats on this stupid stat and use their brains.

This stat is also pointless without including what coverages they are seeing.

If a WR is getting similar seperation to another WR. However, one if facing the defenses second best corner and the other is getting double
Covered every play, then there’s going to be a big difference.

Dez isn’t getting doubled as often as he used to.

That’s a big problem no matter who you want to blame.
