Dez separation stat

So wouldn’t that put A.J. Green, Mike Evans, Julio Jones at around 90 too then?

So maybe folks should stop hanging their hats on this stupid stat and use their brains.

Yes, it's a dumb stat. I don't care if it make Dez look good or bad, either way it's not a good stat.

all those other recievers make incredible catches, make that 2.4 yards work for them. yet Dez can't make crucial catches when most needed. elite players make plays. Dez hasn't. even in the SD game, he should have made a catch in the end zone, yet he didn't. Anthony Brown, make incredible sideline catch. Julio Jones, has 300 yard day. Hopkins helps savage to have a great passing day against good defense.

right now Dez and rest of WR group aren't making any plays.

Dez is not elite or a #1, he hasn't been since 2014. Get over it

I'm not a Dez "homer" (or a Dak "homer", either), but I believe the responsibility lies with both of them. Dak's best throws are short to intermediate routes. He does not throw a good deep ball or deep out. The throws he happens to be weakest at just happen to be where Dez excels. Slant routes are just about the only strengths they have in common. They're not a good fit for each other. Out Dez on a team with a QB whose strengths aligned with his, and I believe we'd see a highly productive receiver again.

Dez is who he is, however. Dak will improve on those weaknesses through experience, but I don't think Dez has time to wait on him. Perhaps it is better for all concerned for Dez to move along after this season.

I hope I'm wrong about that, however.

And, this is where COACHING comes in. Every game, the coach in me loses it anytime I see Dez run a "deep" route. If the coaches could only get their heads out of their A**ES long enough, they would realize Dez could probably get 8-10 catches a game if they decided to run him on ALL the shorter routes (ala Larry Fitzgerald) AND.............drum roll please...............ACTUALLY MOVE HIM AROUND SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could you imagine if the coaches were smart enough to put Dez in the slot more? Or, put Dez and Bease on the same side any time their on the filed together (you can't doble both of them)? The adjustments are too easy to name, yet, they ain't happening.

Have you considered the possibility that Dez doesn’t run most of the shorter routes because heDoesn’t run those routes very well (aside from slants)? He’s not some raw rookie you can mold and shape… He’s past the point of his career. Also, he gets moved all over the field, including out of the slot. I just don’t believe that is the answer.

In my opinion, it really is very simple… The route three runs well I was the throws that Dak has trouble executing, and vice versa. They’re just not a good fit for each other.

NFL network had a graphic of all of Julio Jones' routes from Sunday when he was targeted. It was about the polar opposite of what you would see with a graphic of Dez's routes.

I would love to see Dez run a lot of these kind of routes.

I notice no one seems to be responding with the fact that this is separation by/on targets. What about separation when not targeted? If Dez isn't getting separation, he's going to get less targets. This is also an average, which can be misleading when dealing with a lot of variance.
