1) Pay off all debts now before they compound. I don't know the structure of his contract but I imagine he could probably cover the nearly 1 million dollar debt to jewelers, and still bank some of his rookie signing bonus.

2) Live modestly for one year. Just because you make say 1 million per year doesn't mean you need to live like you do. Live like you make 100K. That's plenty of money to live on and do pretty much anything you want to as a single man except without the extravagance of your current lifestyle.

3) Take ownership of your life and put this behind you. Fire all of your current advisers. They have put you in harm's way by not giving you guidance as to how to take care of your money. You are now an injury away from being a nobody because you have put yourself in a very rough spot, but don't panic and play great football and learn from this. It's not too late.

When I read "dez's three step process", I thought of a different three!!

1=arrest
2-trial
3-incarceration

........................this isn't the Dave Ramsay show my friend. Don't get me wrong: this is EXACTLY what Bryant should do. Key word being SHOULD. His 'posse' is too busy sending the kid down the path to ruin. It won't happen.

I hope you are wrong, but it is appearing that he has started down that path. If he doesn't stop and see what he is doing to himself and his reputation, he is liable to just get in deeper.

Haha what? You have to really, really, REALLY reach to imply he's heading towards prison.

Step 1. Sell some jewelry

People would pay twice what it is worth because it was Dez Bryants.

No, I am SAYING that he is headed down a road to ruin. As long as he keeps making lousy decisions it is a mtter of time before he does screw up big time.

The guy has a problem telling the truth. He has a problem living up to his commitments. He has a problem accepting responsibility.

People that keep on excusing him are just reinforcing his belief that he doesn't have to be accountable. Those making excuses for him are the ones that are hurting him. He needs to be checked hard right now, before he does slide down into the gutter. He is a rare talent that can make a great life for himself, or he can become a joke.

How can you trust him to work hard and put in the time it takes to learn to be a professional if he won't even pay his bills? Someone needs to spank his butt and teach him that being a man means living up to his responsibilities.

were any of the other 9 threads on the page not enough to post this in?

so let me ask you this - you know the details of the purchase, then correct? i mean, 1st hand, not through the media. you KNOW he just refused to pay them (and keep in mind he was considered extravagant when he paid for a $50k dinner, now he's a cheapskate? my head doesn't spin this fast, sorry) and is wah'ing around like a child?

how do you actually know this to be 100% FACT?

unless you do, i'd chill out on the "spank his butt and live up to responsibilities" talk for when you know this is the case. speculating it doesn't make it so.

and the media reporting things play by play doesn't make it so either until the entire story is in.

Debtors' prisons are banned under our current laws.

However, it is too bad we dont have laws about idiots bying too much jewelry or consorting with idiots who sag their pants.
the more I hear about Dez the more I have intimations of stormy weather ahead for that manchild.
Maybe Dez's mom could sell all that jewelry to her, ahem, to her clients.

It's likely his real problems can't be paid off.

He's probably got a lot of people around him who don't provide much more than a high five for being so awesome.

Eventually he'll have to move on or be dragged down by people who are looking for support. I imagine that all guys in his spot have to.

I didn't realize there was a big market for the 214 area code set in diamonds. Maybe he can sell it to Deion.

Sounds like he has a watch, or two, or five, that he could spare.
