So we should be excited that he finally decided to actually want to become a fundamentally sound WR this long into his career? Lmao. This is stuff you work on in college. But when his whole career is based off just going up and getting the ball and able to work around being a terrible WR in every other aspect, he figures it's time he really can't get away with it for that much longer. If he hasn't learned those fundamentals by now, he never will. This is pretty embarrassing actually. Our #1 WR still has no idea how to run a route tree or get off the line with separation.

AB is going into ninth year and his contemporary and he stays working with this guy in the off-season. The guy is a guru and top of the line. It's about working on your craft you don't stop working on it. Man...

MJ would have never overcome the bad boys if he didn't hit the gym get stronger and mentally tougher. That was into his seventh year when be broke through.. This pile on Dez for training with a top notch recieving coach is beyond petty, childish, and stupid. You should be pissed if he wasn't working wth his guy.

Jerry Rice ran the hills in honor or Walter a well training. Dez is doing what he needs to do like the greats. He can't win with you guys.
We just think it is hilarious it took Dez 8 years to figure out he needs to work on running more precise patterns.

And then when he improves he’s going to scream on Twitter at Shannon sharpe and his detractors. When in reality he should be thanking them for lighting a fire under him but I have no faith in that emotional dude anymore.

Exactly. Every player should be doing this in their career. Of course all the greats did it. It's how you stay at the top of your game. It's the fact Dez is just getting around to doing this is the sad part.

Hope he works on catching the ball( led the league in drops ) and not fumbling after complaining about not getting the ball. He has a lot to work on, for a so called, #1 receiver.

Lets see, things Dez needs to work on with his new trainer after 8 years in the league............

1. Route running
2. Catching
3. Ball Security
4. Attitude

I seriously cant believe we are even discussing this about our #1 WR:facepalm:

Dez never had to rely on speed/route running in college to make plays and beat the defenders. He didn’t have to rely on that with Romo. His game has always been winning contested ball battles. He’s had the size, strength and leaping ability to out battle defenders for the ball. Now that he’s lost a step and has a QB who throws to the open receiver he needs to find ways to gain separation and that’s through better route running.
Perfectly said... And goes without blaming qb as much as people like to do

Pathetic that a guy that's been in the league as long as he has is just now getting around to being serious about route running.

He thought his freakish talent was enough. If he put in work on his route running like he should have, he would be unstoppable , he’s s slow learner.

Yes sir....why aren't guys like Coach Robinson hired or retained by the Cowboys?
My guess is he can do things his way, when he wants, and he can choose who he trains. Some people are not a NFL coach material and the amount of time required to be even average

Dez can feel the pressure too. He hasn't worked on his routes in 8 years, but now he decides it might be a good idea.

Is this the first time he's worked on route running? If so that's more of an indictment on Garrett who has been his offensive and head coach I believe his entire career. And Dooley.

That does not absolve dez of responsibility, but obviously you drafted a player you knew had a messed up upbringing you were going to have to... coach.

Not to mention he doesn't leap as high and didn't fight for balls like he used to.
