Dez vs Revis

You have your opinion and I have mine. I've been around football all my life, no need for blinders. Again, I'll take Dez against Revis or any other CB in the league.. BTW, were you expecting Dez to master our playbook as a rookie? If so, that speaks volumes.. Maaaan please!!

Mastering and not having to be cattle prodded to your alignment assignment are two different things. You would think your genius gathered from being "around football all your life" would be able to tell the difference.

Maaaan please, indeed.

It'll be more appropriate to say the guy who Revis isn't covering will have a huge day.
If Garrett will go to Sam Hurd on Champ Bailey twice in a row with the game on the line, I doubt he'll shy away from Revis.

Lol, are you serious? You said "master" not me. Don't flip it cause you sound ridiculous.. You went from master to cattle prodded. Wow!! :laugh2:

Considering the fact that Dez can't even master a playbook yet, I'll give the nod to the best CB in football. I can understand a little homerism, but take the blinders off, for real.

I am certainly not predicting Dez to get the best of Revis.

However, given the physical talent of Dez and how the rules favor the passing game along with a pretty good QB in Romo, I would not be surprised at all if Dez did indeed get the best of Revis.

If I'm the Jets or any other team going up against the Cowboys offense this year, I keep my fingers crossed that the pass rush gets to Romo and quick or it is going to be a long day.

Be careful, you'll be called a HOMER with blinders on.

When you're competing against top corners the QB/WR synchronization is huge, IMO. Dez and Romo need to get tight and that means Dez has to know his playbook AND his reads before Romo will be comfortable throwing at Revis,,,

Seriously, this is actually a discussion?

Your crazy if you think Rex Ryan is stupid enough to waste Revis on Dez.

I wouldn't rule out Dez or any other player getting the best of Revis on any given day. The fact is, many have tried and most failed miserably even WITH rules that favor a passing game.

Dez is a tremendous talent. No doubt about it. So is/was Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Chad Ochocinco, Hines Ward, Calvin Johnson, etc. The list is long of players whom Revis has covered and subsequently eliminated from the game.

Like I said, Dez hasn't even learned the playbook yet (actually, I said mastered, and deferring to Mansta he shouldn't have actually "mastered" it in his rookie season, but he should have atleast KNOWN it). To add to that, Dez' route running precision was a weakness of his game last year. If Revis can shut down the best students and technicians in the world at the position, then Dez isn't the insurmountable hill that some of the sunshine crew would like to believe.

Is Dez a tremendous talent? Absloutely. Is Revis going to miss one millisecond of sleep at the thought of having to cover him? Not even close. As it stands, Revis is twice the student and technician of the game that Bryant is.

You are correct. It's not fair to expect a rookie to "master" a playbook in his rookie season, my bad. Unfortunately, Dez didn't even bother to learn it. Toss in Dez' sloppy route running and it's amazing that Dez had the season that he had last year (and yes that is a testament to Dez' tremendous ability).

Now, having said that, if Dez puts it all together, then he CAN be one of the top 2 or 3 WR threats in the league. It's not simply a matter of when, it's a matter of if. Will he dedicate himself on a Michael Irvin level, or an Antonio Bryant level? That's yet to be answered. I'm certainly pulling for him to dedicate on the Michael Irvin level but it's no lead pipe lock. Too many signs of immaturity to bet on that just yet.

You had me until I got the bolded part...:laugh2: J/K!

I know what you are saying and you certainly are not wrong, but many times things happen on the football field that surprise me...certainly if Revis were to shut Bryant down that would not surprise too many people.

I for one would not be one bit surprised if Bryant has a really good day against him and not in a any given Sunday kind of way. I know there is a lot of hype some merited and probably some not as of yet concerning Dez.

My own personal feelings is that he could be an elite player in the NFL. So if he starts to show glimpses of greatness against other great players, I just wont be surprised at all.

I'll agree with you there, for sure.

I would love to see this match on week one. I think Dez is going to explode this coming season and we know that Revis is the best in the game at his position. The match up, in my opinion, may be one of the best this season between players. I know it may be Austin vs Revis but either way it will be very fun to watch.

Nnamdi > Revis

ok ok endzone fade route who wins that battle Revis or Dez???? who wld u put ur $ on ...me i wld choose dez....yes revis is great but he aint super man and he can b beat....im just saying, so who wins that battle???

Wow. Dez is good, but to compare a 2nd year WR to the best CB in the game and probably top-10 all-time and say he'll flourish against him is a bit of a stretch. I love Dez but damn.

Top-10 all time?

Football's back for one day and the comedians are back in force!

I'd rather Austin take his shot at Revis. Not saying that Dez couldn't have a decent game against Revis, but the odds are Austin given his experience and guile is more likely to shake free a times vs Revis.

The key matchup will be on the other side. Austin/Bryant should be able to have their way vs. Kyle Wilson.

It is games like this where Dez will have a chance to build a big name. I look forward to this game.
