Dezappointment

We have thrown the ball 20-30 yds down field 22 bleeping times in 13 games and completed a whopping 7 passes.

In 13 games!!

I'm really not happy with the team, and I know he's not played "badly", and I know he cares... Nor is he the reason for the Cowboys offensive funk- because for whatever reason he doesn't get balls thrown to him. But if you told me Dez Bryant would not have 1000 yards receiving by wk. 13 in a season where he has started every game, I would have bet every hypothetical penny I had on those odds.

If this offense is supposed to work like the '86 Commanders "Smurfs" outfit where the ball is thrown to whoever is open instead of relying on a supreme talent like Bryant- than his selection is ALSO a bust. Noone can possibly know exactly why his production isn't greater but if the organization has questions on his mental capacity for the game at this point I would make him also available.

Nothing less than a 1500 yard performance prior to his rookie contract expiration date and I wouldn't even broach the possibility of re-signing him. He makes too many mistakes at this point- mental and physical.

I think my boy Tony is too worried about throwing an int right now. We saw McCown throwing it up for jefferies and Marshall and letting them make a plays like stafford does with Calvin. I would like to see romo do that more often with dez. If it leads to a few more picks then so be it. We seem to be doing a better job of eliminating our biggest threat than defenses do.

Romo wasn't playing well until the last the Giants game. He was missing Dez who would get open, quite often. People look at Romo's TD/INT ratio, but he was doing that thru a lot of dink and dunking which inflates the QB Rating (look at his yards per attempt). I think part of the problem was getting adjusted to Callahan. I think Callahan clearly had an influence on the scheme, regardless of what people say. The passing was more dink and dunk oriented with more short, drag and flare route options.

Romo started to get going and they played well against the G-Men and Dez was robbed of roughly 40+ yards of receiving there. One was the fumble that they reversed the yardage gained (which I still don't understand) and the other was on the catch that the refs incorrectly called a 'no catch' and would not review it.

In the Bears game, they kept running the ball. Can't blame them. Murray almost had 100 yards rushing in the first half. And it was cold with a wind.

I'm disappointed with how Dez is being used as well. But, part of that is on Romo for struggling early on. Even still, we really need this defense to get straightened out once and for all. When you're running the ball well and your defense is horrific, it's tough to force yourself to pass the ball.

Romo just isn't throwing him the ball b/c he wants to make sure Dallas can afford to resign him after next year :D

Dez needs to study the playbook for once and learn the routes. He does not get the separation the top WRs get in this league. My opinion is he is Allvin Harper of 2013 and needs to be paid like him. But with his own view of himself as the greatest receiver in the league we should unload him now for some value in next years draft.

Interesting take.

I will concede that Dez generally does not get a lot of separation -- although you could say the same about Brandon Marshall.

Part of what I am coming around to is that there is a TON of top WR talent in the NFL -- lots of guys who weren't even on the radar last year like Josh Gordon, Alshon Jeffrey, etc and that, while Dez is physically gifted, he may not be heads and shoulders better than every other WR in the league other the Megatron as many of us originally thought coming into the year.

Dez is in the process of finishing his 4th year in the league -- I kinda wonder if at this stage the Dez you see today is the Dez you are going to get in the future.

and we don't know. But in my opinion Dez just doesn't get it. Look around the league and check out the different formations these receiver start at. Smart players today are very important. Jerry has made so many mistakes looking for bargans come draft day. I say get some top defensive linemen if you want a 4-3 D and start rebuilding the entire defense not forgetting to add a piece to the offensive line. I have backed Jerry way more than most but at this point of time I would like to see the king of this castle bring in some sort of GM, former gm not even a scouting director, and get more input on the final minutes before each pick. This topic is on Dez but Dez is part of a mismanaged GM plan. This is the very first time I have bashed our GM.

jerry's done that several times then fires the staff and brings in a defensive coach that coaches the exact opposite or a variant of. 3-4 players for a 4-3 defense time and again.

The point is, even if the defenses are hybrids of one or the other the athletes have to learn a new position every three years and only then do they find out threre's a few pieces out of place. Oopsie. And those pieces have been the lack of a pass rush, down field coverage or run-stopper. Eh.....that ain't important to a successful defense.

The fulcrum of all of this is you know who and we get "moral losses" and "I saw alot of good things out there today" BS. (My personal fav was the"Glory Hole" comment. GOD. What an idiot.)

Get a coach for the long haul, let him do his job and then draft accordingly. It ain't that hard if you don't have an inept, over-bearing, narcissistic(sp?), sociopathic troll in charge.

He's arguably one of the most talented WRs in the league. He cares about the team. He cares about winning. His passion for playing football is undeniable. His enthusiasm is unmatched.

With that being said you do NOT base whether you resign this type of player on some arbitrary set of stats. Letting Dez Bryant leave this team does nothing but turn WR into a position of need. It would not help the team in any way.

Dez is not part of the problem.

9 dropped passes this year is a problem whether you want to admit it or not.

Definitely. Dez, like just about every other Cowboy, is part of the problem.

Would still like to see him get more opportunities to make a play like the Bears did with Jeffrey on Monday night.

Or better yet, like the Cowboys used to do with Dez and were greatly rewarded.

Also notably Dez is also the only of the Top 100 receivers (measured by yards) in the NFL with 3 more fumbles this season.

Piss poor offensive scheme. It's painstakingly obvious. Can't get our best player the football. Plain and simple.

And when we do, he drops it or fumbles it. I guess you didn't watch the game because Chicago had the ball 36 mins to 23 for Dallas. Jeez.

He needs to get on top of the that. The drops and fumbles I mean.

Idc how many minutes, we need to get our best weapon the ball.

Are you arguing that this offensive scheme is a good one?

I see Dez wide open a lot and Romo throws elsewhere. Dez doesn't get the ball like he should. They do go to him a lot in the endzone but that's not enough. Dez Bryant is open every other play rather he looks open or not.

And btw, how many yards did we rush for Monday night? Over 200? And still got whooped. But you still believe this is not a passing league?

Until the Chicago game yes. Finally they started to run the ball more and had success. Then the defense couldn't stop Chicago and we got behind. Then dropped passes, and a lack of time and the game was over.

You're ignorant if you base a take on 1 game. Again, you have to run the ball and STOP THE RUN. We didn't stop their run or pass game.

It's and issue but it's no excuse for his lack of production.

This is just another indictment of Jason Garrett and his awful awful schemes.

Off one game? I had this opinion before Monday night and you knew that.

wow so you love JGs playbook? And you want him back I assume? Whatever thats your opinion. And I know by now. I can't sway you one way or the other lol.
