Sure was fun last night! Rain, non-stop lightning, strong winds, tornado warning sirens, power outage, and of course a little hail!

:storm:
Yeah, tell me about it. Did you guys have any major damage?
We are just South of all the fun last night, so we heard the sirens and had the storm, but no hail or tornados.

I heard on the news last night Dallas was getting hammered. We sure could use some rain in Houston but can live without the tornados and hail

I live in Irving in the TX-183/Belt Line vicinity, and I didn't notice any major damage, but haven't really had any time to look. Saw some branches down this morning, stuff like that. Thankfully my car was covered.

Got some damage to my truck from hail. Biggest hail I've ever seen in person.

This was literally the first storm I was ever actually afraid off. I had all the kids in the closet riding it out.

I remember when I was around 14. I was at my grandparents house in South Ft Worth near Miller Brewery. Cantaloupe sized hail started falling and would smash completely through some peoples roof. My grandfather picked up two of them and put them in the freezer.

More rolling thru here last night as well. A couple more found dead after a huge tree fell onto a car and smashed it. A mother and her teenage son died together in the front seat. At least the college age daughter in the back seat will live. Damn tornados........

Sorry to hear about your truck. Sounds like it was a quite a storm.

Was a tornado in town ever confirmed this morning? I was watching the coverage last night, and there were several reports of a wedge tornado in the south Dallas area around 9:30 or so.

To be perfectly honest, and not trying to be controversial here, I find the DFW area guys to be a little, um, hysterical about these storms. The media and the NWS office there seems to be more liberal in declaring tornado warnings than they do up in Oklahoma. Who knows, maybe like with so many other things these days, they have to worry about liability issues. But I think they have to be a little leery of crying wolf too often.

Right, that one up near Haslet/Denton was confirmed during daylight... I was thinking more of the one near Cedar Hill/South Dallas after dark that one spotter on channel 11 was calling a large wedge tornado on the ground. If that had happened, there'd have been tons of extensive damage in that area.

I know, better safe than sorry, but I wish they'd be a little more conservative at times.

Well like many of my stupid neighbors, stupid me was outside on his lawn during all the sirens looking around to see where the tornado was...never saw anything

I remember those storms. Early to mid 90's around 93 or 94 I think. We had some cars towed into the dealership that were totaled from hail. It even tore up the interior of the car on a few of them. I never dreamed hail could be that big.

Luckily it just grazed Plano, we got strong winds of about 70mph but no Tornadoes or huge hail. My truck is safe!

I've got a ton of friends in FW and one was spotted near 820 and 30. Since I knew the weather was bad, I immediately started making calls to my family up there.

They all got on me about not coming to see them when I was up there the last time. I didn't call to get censured.

Sorry to go off topic but did I hear right, there's 1500 unaccounted for in Joplin?

Is that a serious number?

Absolutely a serious number, and wow! Really? That many? WOW!! :(

South Irving was hit by EF1, and hit my sisters neighborhood. Just got power back today. Not much damage to the house, but it ripped the tops of some of the trees off, and uprooted others. The upper part of one tree landed on the bed of my truck, and caused some body damage, but the important thing is, everyone is safe.

It's been a crazy, tiring last few days, and an experience I hope to never have again. I'll post some pics soon.

They released an official list today that had 230 names on it.
