Jerry Jones says he backs up roy, got his back

Campo said he has some stuff, not sure why all of the bad media stuff he is getting;

talked about barber and newman wiht new money

campo talked about guys fighting to make football team, it helps overall chemistry of team, then back to roy

questions about roy job in past and now; campo said we utilitzed his strenghts, your trying to get best player on field,

can he take a step forward this year question, yes, campo said

lack of confidence question, when a guy gets beat down so much, he starts believing that stuff, campo said we can fix that

more interceptions on defense question, yes, we got some players in offseason and draft, even front guys are improved

pressure question to jerry jones this year, yes, i think it helps tempo, expectations are good things, and we have higher expectations, you look at personal goals of each players and team goals, everyone knows their jobs on line here, and jerry says im not as clever and humorous etc when we are losing, so take that to note

hamlin not being signed, running arouond just in pads question;
no one mad at anyone not being here; with halmlin out;
anthony spencer says feels more comfortable
canty says seeing giants win it all,make it hard to work harder to get terrible taste out of their mouth
leonard davis says working harder
deion anderson on, his comical self

I also think Campo is going to be great for Roy. That probably sounds silly to some people. After all, these players are professionals. But I think Dave will make sure that Roy understands exactly what is required of him, and I think Campo will also build Roy back up mentally and emotionally. I really do expect a big-time bounce back year from Roy Williams.

Boy I hope you are right. Campo will help. He didn't pan out as a HC but he's got defense covered esp DBs.

More specifically, I think he has credibility with Roy Williams...Campo is someone who has seen firsthand what Roy can do. From Roy's perspective, he could easily feel like he has someone on the staff who is on his side and has genuine confidence in him.

Beyond that, I would expect that Dave can communicate with Roy a little differently than some of the other guys on this staff. I know that football is still football, but sometimes a different voice saying things in a slightly different way really helps some guys.

Finally, with all of this bashing about Roy not being comfortable in the defense before last season, I think it might be worth pointing out that Roy did have some new things on his plate last year. Not only was he playing safety in a new 3-4 scheme, but he was also moving down to LB in a lot of pass coverages. If the guy really does have some trouble picking things up, I can see how that would overwhelm him a little bit and make him hesitate. I think Dave can help with that too.

What is Campo talking about when he says he can pretty much restore Roy's confidence? DOesn't he know that there is no SS that can cover a TE like Shockey one-on-one and it has nothing to do with confidence?

I just really wish Jerry would shut up.

Yes, we all know we have a good team. Yes, we expect to have a good year. But why do you have to have to constantly put your mug on TV and tell everyone how great we should be? Why is it that the Patriots, or the Colts, or the other perennially good teams don't do this? Could there possibly be a sound reason for that?

I know Jerry can't help himself, but I keep thinking of the 2002 team that Jerry said could win 10 games. LOL.

Campo. C, A, M, P, O. Dave Campo. Coach Campo. Coach Dave Campo. Coach Dave Campo.

Nope. No matter how I say it or see it or spell it all I see is 5-11.

:laugh1:

Why so negative on Campo? As much as 15-33 from 2000-2002 sucked, it was inevitable and little to do with Dave.
We dont need a good HC to coach our DB's. We need a good DB coach. Campo is a good/proven DB coach.

I liked this hire because it had one tell-tale sign that is was probably the best move. Difficulty. This wasn't the path of least resistance. Jones had a few other options he could have gone with without raising a single eyebrow. Why hire your former failed HC as a position coach? Because he was the best qualified. End of story.

I think Jerry remembered that Campo was HC here in Roy's first year with the team & that he was also a good DB position coach here for many years before being promoted to DC and later to HC.

Sorry, that excuse that Roy was adapting to the 3-4 does not wash. The secondary does very little different no matter what the front 7 do. Having roy play LB in some plays was the only real difference and he did not do that much.

'Best candidate' or just more of the 'fall in line type' who can easily fit in with next season's staff under Jason Garrett?

Cuz we're the Dallas ****** Cowboys and we don't do like other teams do.

Seriously, I just don't think the Cowboys have ever been an understated and humble organization like the Colts or the Pats supposed to be.

It's not even about being humble. Have all the high expectations you want... Just don't broadcast it to the world.

I know Jerry won't change, but it's just ridiculous. Every draft pick is a star before he's done anything. Every year we should be in the playoffs, even when we feature Quincy Carter, Brandon Noble, and Duane Hawthorne. Antonio Bryant runs better routes than Michael Irvin. And on and on and on.

The thing is you see it as a Jerry thing and I see it as this has always been what the Cowboys have done or represented...even before Jerry.

We're great and we want you to know it....even when we're playing scrubs. I could be wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time.
