Diablo III Pre-order!?!?!?!

Wow, Blizzard hasn't mentioned a release date for Diablo III yet, but Walmart is offering Diablo III pre-order and even mentions a ship date!?!?!

In the Q&A section at that wally world link a poster (not a rep from wally world or blizzard) wrote the following up that probably nails it...

A: Walmart is using that date merely as a way to get customers to place their preorders so they can gauge how demand will be for the game. The date listed is NOT an official release date.

Blizzard has yet to put out any release date for Diablo III. At BlizzCon 2010, they announced that 1,000 very lucky attendees would be awarded beta keys for Diablo III's closed beta. We can guess that the beta will be starting up soon, but even that would be too presumptous. Still, its a sign that they're at least making forward progress on the game.


I am looking forward to it but don't expect it for a bit. I imagine summer by the earliest but who knows, maybe spring.

Also, have you heard anything about the computer requirements for the game yet?

Been some time since I did any updates or got a new system and I have to wonder if it will require more than a gig of memory. I got around a gig and for what I normally do that is enough so I have not bothered upgrading it but if the game calls for that as a minimum I guess I will have to upgrade soon.

I have only bought about 4 games for the pc over the years and 3 of those were Diablo (one being the expansion pack for the last game). So I don't game much, don't spend much time or money on it, but I do get crazy about diablo and have been waiting for this for years.

Seems too early TBH. If I'm thinking correctly Blizzard spaces their game releases out a little more and WoW just released it's expansion last month. I'd be willing to bet this gets released closer to May or June.

Don't they normally have a big even in the Summer and Winter...blizzcon or something and don't they normally announce the release of new titles during those?

If that is the case then it would seem the summer date is probable but again, I have no knowledge of all of this gaming world stuff so I could be completely wrong on all of it.

Blizzard games are always in development forever, and they're always amazing when they come out. The best thing to do is just not try to follow them too much, so when they come out you're just as excited.

We had to wait what, 12 years between Starcraft and Starcraft 2? It didn't change how terrific SC2 was.

They have a big event once a year in the Fall called Blizzcon. E3, the big electronics expo is in the Summer but Blizzard tens to save their big news for their own convention.

I was just thinking about Diablo III just last night. I expect news by March from Blizz on when it will be released. I figure it will be out by summer.
