The book is out. Dak Prescott can't beat you from the pocket. Not today anyway.

Teams have been stacking the line from the moment Tony went down.

If Sean Lee was healthy, we win the game, are 3-1, and aren't have this conversation. Our front 7 didn't show up. Our LB play was the biggest reason we lost. Our secondary was our solid unit yesterday.

idk what garrett is trying to do. depending on which way he goes, he has an already installed excuse, which can help, or if he tries to win out, he has no excuses left.

The only one who should be making the decision is Jerry. 1 because hes still the owner and 2 i dont think Stephen has the strength to take over and at least in my opinion has proven to just be a yes man.

Garrett's excuses are a loooonng list:

Inherited bad Wade team
Team is rebuilding
Needs on the job training
Romo chokes
Team is rebuilding again
Needs to be a walk around coach
Romo hurt
Team is rebuilding
Dak just a rookie
Team is rebuilding again

Reality has a way of kicking you in the shin right before it's time to start your race.

Forget 2-2 and just look at the football before us. It ain't good for Dallas the way these games are playing out. This is an 8-8 team, maybe, unless some things get figured out quickly. Most likely, that's an offseason or two or three away.

The defense is wilting. The running game is surrounded. The quarterback is lost and failing. The coaches are hamstrung by the reality of an mediocre team that needs both time to develop, but better hurry up quick for the aging side of its roster. The answers don't seem attainable at the moment.

The curtain has been pulled back from the illusion of 13-3. The NFL waited for Romo to return like we did last year, but he never did. Dak and Zeke piled up wins against easy and injured opponents to the tune of 11 amazing wins in a row. The future promised to be unstoppable and spectacular.

But quietly, the league went to work. Good defenses showed the template to stop this offense, and as of now, that's got this team hog-tied. Minnesota, Philadelphia, and the Giants showed the way, even in losing efforts. They provided the plan.

Time of possession won last year for Dallas in spades. Dallas just drained the life out of opponents with brutally long and exhausting drives that left QBs standing, watching, and waiting. That is not happening this year. Too many third-and-longs and three-and-outs have turned that table upside down.

The book is out. Dak Prescott can't beat you from the pocket. Not today anyway.

Gang up on Zeke Elliott by stacking the line tight. Dallas is struggling at left guard and right tackle, so run blitz it to death. Sell out on Zeke. Make the Cowboys throw the football. Cover everything short with man coverage, especially on Beasley and Witten. Single high safety. Pass rush with discipline and don't allow the quarterback to escape outside the pocket. Watch for the rollouts to the right. Keep that quarterback in the pocket where he's hesitant and inaccurate.

That's it. It's working, at least for teams with good defenses.

The Cowboys defense has some good, young talent, but they won't hold up, especially if they have to log too many minutes. There are holes to expose, especially if you have a good quarterback and a reasonable offensive line.

The answer screams for coaching, but what are they to do with so much baby-young talent at all the key positions. This team needs time, as in seasons, before we really know what we have.

I know this. This team is not a contender this season. This is a middle-of-the-pack poser with great rankings that isn't ready for the big stage right now. Borderline playoff team thanks to a division lacking a great team.
erod--bro i cannot isagree with anthing you have said...and no one feels worse than me...i already posted i threw marble table settings thrrough wall and tv....do not take loss well...need to grow up ..but i am only 60...but we are getting back Lee and Awuzie and Hitchens and irving and good chance all 4 for Green bay game...this is a huge shot in the arm for our D...plus with miscues on special teams and offense that can be corrected we will not be a lay down for Green Bay...in fact i think we will play for our lives and stick it to the man ( Rogers )

No, the difference is last year's schedule was easy. This one isn't.

Not true at all. You can say that in retrospect, since we won, but it was not an easy schedule. No easier/harder than this year's schedule.

Fixing the offensive line would fix and mask a lot of the problems we're facing this year. We aren't able to bully our opponents anymore - and that's exposing the QBs deficiencies as well as our defensive deficiencies since they're on the field so much longer than last season.

Tom Brady was pedestrian his first three, four years in the league. He was considered a bus driver.
Rodgers didn't even start until year four and sucked up until he did.
Not sure how you make an assesment until at least after next season.
We have to figure out what he is as quickly as possible.

We could have a Dak-Rush controversy next season if he doesn't show soon.

Teams weren't stacking the line and playing Dak this way until late last season.

Plus, Dallas has played four good to great defenses so far. Last year, it wasn't like that.

The Packers defense is poor. It should look better this week.

The Rams have given up the 5th most points in the NFL to this point. Giants, 8th most points. Not very great.

Our own lack of execution, on multiple fronts, is the reason we aren't succeeding. Dak is off, OLine is drastically worse, and Zeke is disinterested. Bad combinations there. Yeah, defenses are stacking up the box - but it's because they know we aren't as efficient in other areas so there's no real fear of us burning them.

I hope you're right - I hope we look good against bad defenses. But until these major issues get corrected, I'm not sure we will look "good" against anybody.

That's fine, but only after next season or most of it anyhow.
Cooper Rush hasn't done squat yet, so let's not get to excited about him.

I think the biggest objective right now is determining if Prescott is, or is not, the guy to take this team to a championship.

I don't want to do the Rivers, Dalton, Tannehill thing. I don't even want to do the Flacco thing where you hope to luck into a championship.
Came to that conclusion myself.

Really? I recall every defense every week stacking the line this way. We were the best running team in football in 2014, one of the best in 2015 even without a quarterback - the book was out LONG ago (as in years) that forcing the young quarterback to beat you is your best bet.

Can you imagine a defensive coordinator opting to get pummeled on the ground against us last year out of fear of a 4th round rookie QB? That was never the case. It simply fits your narrative to claim that it was and that it has recently changed, when it hasn't. It has simply started working for a variety of reasons.

The Rams have a terrible secondary and good front four. The Giants defense has been on the field all season, so that's not fair to them.

If Dallas can't run the ball like last year, this season is already over.

Totally agree. Call up Denver and trade Dez for Leary and a pick :omg:

Joking. Denver would never take Dez. But I can dream

Certainly agree. All the other positions can be improved in due time and that is my concern about this FO. Do they have the expertise to draw that talent up?

FWIW, according the NFL.com standings, only 6 teams have given up more points than the Cowboys.
