Since the end of the season all of us have been talking draft with all the focus on the top half of the draft but considering the Cowboys have 6 picks in the 7th round are there some guys out there you feel can become diamonds or at least decent gem stones. lol

Some of my late prospect
Brandon Watts OLB Georgia Tech
Victor Hampton CB South Carolina
Brayn Stork C Florida State
Carlos Fields Jr OLB Winston-Salem

UNC fan?

Tre Boston looks pretty interesting

How did you know I'm a Tar Heel haha. Tre Boston could start right away at FS, he is a playmaker and would look good beside Wilcox as our future. Needs to work on run defense but had showed decent open field tackles at times. Tracks the ball really well and has decent speed

Nice. I think Renner can develop and Jackson's a good fit.

Keeping it in the ACC family…or formerly of the ACC…I'll nominate Danny O'Brien, Catawba by way of U of Maryland with a detour in Wisconsin.

ACC Rookie of the Year in 2010 under Ralph Friedgen and former OC/current Vandy HC James Franklin in a Pro attack offense. 2011, new coach comes in and installs an offense that expects O'Brien to suddenly become a running QB. O'Brien is bad at it. 2012, graduates as a redshirt soph and transfers to Wisconsin as a grad student. Doesn't work out as he hoped. Has to transfer to lower division or lose a year.

Also, Zack Kerr (DT), another Maryland transfer. But he's more well known round here.

I've been piloting the Ben Gardner train all off season and I will add Logan Thomas to that mix.

Some non-Maryland offensive diamonds…

RB-Darrin Reaves, Alabama-Birmingham
Only 5-7 but 210. Very good interior runner who's hard to find and can shake off tacklers due to great lower body strength. Build enables him to stop and start a bit like Cole Beasley. Despite short stature, also an excellent receiver and can pick up LB or S due to unusual leverage.

FB-Nikita Whitlock, Wake Forest
Basically cube-shaped at 5-10 and 250. Converting from DT, where he was terrific but obviously too small to stay. I'd prefer drafting JC Copeland or Jay Prosch, but if we miss out then this guy is one I'd be after to develop. Football playin' dude.

WR-Quincy Enunwa, Nebraska
Thick build at 6-2 and 225 with long speed and great RAC ability. Poor QB play at Nebraska has Enunwa undervalued. Would be great gunner on special teams while he develops as a WR. Solid hands. RKG. Not a good route runner.

WR-Chris Boyd, Vanderbilt
6-4 and 205. As a sophomore, was not that far off from teammate Jordan Matthews. Lost his Junior year to suspension related to accessory after the fact (advising/covering for teammates who had committed a sexual assault). Ran a 4.7 but how much of that was due to a year off? On tape, looks a lot faster. Graduated in 3 years. Looks like more of a high 4.5s guy.

OG-Eric Pike, Towson
RB Terrence West was setting the records, but Pike was a big part of why. Four year starter at Left Tackle at around 6-4 and 310 but will move inside. Good ZBS fit. Worth a 7th or priority UDFA.

Also like OGs Brandon Linder (Miami) and Zach Fulton (Tennessee).

Some long shot defensive diamonds…

DT-Kaleb Ramsey, Boston College
Position has been discussed ad nauseum and there are many DTs I like more, but felt Ramsey looked like a future top DT earlier in his career. Injuries (hip, foot, shoulder, and calf) have limited his development. Spent six years at BC so he's an older prospect. Has kind of a similar physique to Kawann Short from last year. Here he is waaay back in 2010 as a Junior.

DE-Devon Kennard, USC
Former top HS recruit on defense and son of former Cowboy Derrek Kennard. Goes 6-3 and 250 but dropped weight to play OLB. I think he can max out at 265/275. Played MLB, OLB, and DE. Major durability issues (lost 2012 to torn pec) but finally showed his potential as a Senior.

**Also riding on the Larry Webster, Elhadji Ndiaye, and Zach Moore bandwagons.

MLB-Roosevelt Nix, Kent St
One of my favorite players. Played DT but did it at 5-11/250 so needs to switch positions. Some have him switching to FB but so good on defense I'd put him behind Sean Lee and let him learn. As a Sophomore, went toe to toe with Alabama first round Guard Chance Warmack and won.

OLB/FS-Eric Pinkins, San Diego St
Nice athlete (Pro Day: 39.5" vert; 10'6" broad; 4.45 40y; 1.6 10y; 4.3 shuttle; 7.0 3-cone; 25 reps) with great size at 6-3 and 220. Changes direction like a CB. Might even be able to play outside. Really feel like he's a perfect fit for this defense at WLB.

** Also on the Boseko Lokombo (Oregon), Terrance Bullitt (Texas Tech), and Nate Askew (Texas A&M) bandwagons.
