Did anyone hear of a Burnett injury?

No, obviously I hadnt heard he was getting cut and I dont remember anyone saying he was during the game. My xray hearing must have failed me!
;)

They didn't announce the surgery during the game, but they did announce the injury and the loose particles in his ankle.

Let's hope so.

Wade said today that the surgery was successful. (Like he said, do you never hear of an operation that isn't a success?)

There should be posts titled "Did anyone hear about Burnett being healthy?" That would be news.

Exactly.

This is Burnett's third year of constantly being injured. At this point, I doubt that changes.

Love his ability, but I have a feeling he's going to end up being a waste of a pick, if he isn't already. I bet we get little stretches of contributions from him until his rookie deal ends, and that's it.

Then when we let him walk, and he gets a sack or forces a fumble, brace for all the rueing posts, along with all the threads about how Parcells and Phillips squashed his potential. If you get your rueing in now...

What's up with all these injuries? never noticed this many before. There has to be a reason for it. Maybe it's because we're running more, and doing drills more than strength and conditioning.

Actually SP, I was thinking that Parcells seemed skeptical of Burnett almost from the start -- and it looks like he was right. :)

Probably just as to whether or not he could actually play. Some would say it was because he was too small, and shouldn't have been drafted - but a baller is a baller.

But you know it would come. It's only been recently that some have let go of the idea of us rueing Henson. All it would take is one sack, or one 5 tackle game.

Burnett has entitlement issues. I think those are a worse problem than his injuries. Burnett believes that Burnett is one hell of a player, and so he doesn't aspire...trouble is, he can't even get on the field. But in his head, he's so darn awesome that he doesn't need to get better. Just my read...

Nope, totally agree with you. It's not so much that he gets dinged up, it's that he takes himself off the field and immediately goes for surgery. Remember when Dat broke his arm against the Texans but stayed in and layed the whole second half with it? Burnett would never, ever do that.

Either he has a low pain threshold, or he he thinks playing at less than 100% will make him look bad, or he's worried about his future earnings, or all of the above.

Like you say, just my take on it from everything I've read about the guy.

(And Burnett was actually my choice in the "Who wil be most improved under Wade" thread that WG made when Wade was first hired.)

Hey, great come back, snoooze. Sorry I missed. The drugs...

I'm not doctor, but I would assume that to remove bone chips, those chips would have had to come from a bone. Am I right so far?

So, how is he going to be ready in two weeks when he's got a bone injury?

Does seem like a short time. There are these types of surgeries that take 6-8 weeks of recovery. I guess it depends on location and severity...

He doesn't.

Bone chips typically come from when the connective tissue tears from the bone, it's not a broken bone.

Basically, anytime someone sprains an ankle there is a good chance some small flecks of bone come off. Most time that means nothing, unless the pieces start causing inflammation or come in contact with a nerve ending.

Burnett had a lot of special teams breakdowns, and since I assume he's plenty talented enough to play ST I could only guess that he believed it he was simply too good for it.

I always believed Parcells' devotion and preaching of special teams was used as a litmus test for his young players to see how much they truly loved football and how much they just loved the money, notoriety and adulation that comes with it. Its not hard to love football when you're untouched on a blitz right into the backfield and the entire stadium is on it's feet cheering for you. Special teams, on the surface, doesn't look like a fun activity unless running down field for forty yards and knocking yourself silly without any recognition is your idea of fun. For the guys who truly love playing football, it is.

BP always kept him in the nickel package which also led me to believe he had some talent. I suppose its no longer about talent after so long.

I cant say I blame him for wanting to play more. He does seem to be a bit of a playmaker. My concern, if there is any, is a lack of depth inside.
