...I think this was lost in the disappointment of the loss Sunday, but one thing we did offensively that I was very pleased with was the formation and play call we made on the very first play after Glenn's 2nd INT when we had the ball at the Giant's 10 yard line.
At first I thought "Oh no, here we go again, 2 TE, run to JJ right up the middle on first and second down." But much to my surprise we came out with Terry Glenn and Keyshawn split wide and I thought, "Wait a minute, we're going to do something different." Then on the first play a pass to Glenn in the corner...TD!
Kudos to Parcells and Payton for opening it up and playing aggressive in that situation. I will always believe if we had played that way in the Skins game when it was 10-0 and we had the ball at the Skins 15 yard line with a few minutes to go in the 4th quarter we would have won that game. Instead we played for the FG, (by Parcells own admission) and we end up letting the game slip away.
Then go to the Seattle game. Roy picks the ball and we are perfectly set up to go for the kill, but Parcells obviously plays for the FG by running the ball and of course we know how that game turned out.
We didn't win Sunday but at least we did make some aggressive play calls when we did get the ball down around the goalline.
Of course I realize in the Skins and Seahawk games we were leading at the time and Sunday we were behind, so that affected the play calling, but I have wanted us to get aggressive down at the goalline for a while.
Perhaps that will serve us well in the next 4 games.
