BP finally called TO by his first name. During the press conference, BP said if Romo had thrown the ball to "Terrell" on his first interception it would have been a TD. He didn't say the player.

"The Player" is not BP's nickname for TO. It is a media creation from people who didn't start watching the Dallas press conferences until this season. BP has said "the player" to refer to lots of guys in the time he has been in Dallas, not just TO.

BP has rarely mentioned TO by his name. The media has nothing to do with this one. I have never heard BP say it personally until yesterday. The first time all season from my observations.

Not only that, BP has also called TO "Terrell" a few times this year in previous press conferences.

BP's use of the term "the player" is an old one, going back to his stints with other teams. In fact, he's used it more times than I can count. But as usual, if the media can make up something and repeat it enough times, it becomes truth.

It is a complete fabrication that is then used as an example of BP having trouble with TO.

Ya know, I do miss the days when there was some integrity in reporting the news...Well, at least I miss the days when I thought there was.

I have seen and heard him refer to Owens as Terrell in past press conferences.

Sometimes he calls him "the player", sometimes he calls guys from other teams "the player", sometimes he calls other guys from our team "the player",
or the QB.

He has always done this, the media jumped on this and tried to make it seem like he called only Owens this, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Exactly.

Most of the times I've heard Parcells use the term "the player" it is in response to somebody asking him a question about a player. Not going out of his way to call somebody "the player".

Yes, he has referenced Owens by name plenty of times in the past.

I personally thought he was using the phrase "The Player" as a way to take a jab at the media for constantly writing and asking questions about him.

My bad, I had not heard BP call TO by his name this year. Yesterday was a first for me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed BP refer to LOTS of players abstractly ("the player"). The media drives me nuts with all the attention that gets. I, too remember BP when he was coaching the Giants saying stuff like that. I've always thought he did that to purposely withdraw media hype from around catalytic players.

It's so damned funny what desperate media people can invent when they put their minds to it.

The writers/TV people look for the easy angle. If it fits preconceived notions, all the better.

I was listening and noticed that too- I was saying that if he had said "if Romo had thrown the ball to The Player on his first interception it would have been a TD" I would probably have messed myself from laughing-that would have been funny.
